Tweens and Teens
| He grew well over a foot. |
|
My DS was not even 5 ft on his 13th birthday. He was probably 5'6 by his 14th and hit somewhere between 5'9 and 5'10 by 16, which is how tall he is at 21.

At 13: 58.86 in
Now 19: around 5'11" or 71". Might still grow another inch. So, about 12". But DS was a very late bloomer. All his friends stopped growing at 16. He was always the shortest until he passed them at 17. |
dp.. DH is 6'3", I'm about 5'. DS is around 5'11" at 18, I think still growing (late bloomer like his dad). I think it's generally true height is from the mom. Maybe I had taller genes in the family on my side, but it just skipped me? lol |
Lol. I am the poster. Maybe for girls it does because my daughter is 10 and barely 4'6 I will be shocked if she reached 5"0. She may though. She is all legs. She has very very long legs and so does my son. I am all legs as well. |
Assuming he hasn't hit his main growth spurt yet, he may end up very tall. My brother was that hight at 13. He is 6"5 now. |
| Major growth spurts every year and he’s still going at 18 and 6 even. He’s adopted and the birth father is putative, but 6’1. |
| I know 2 guys who grew 2 feet at 20 |
| My DS was about 5’5” when he was 14 and is now 6’1” and has been over 6’ since he was 17-18 ish. |
| Mine went from 6 foot to 6'6'' from 13-16.... It'll be interesting to see if he's done growing... |
That was my daughter. She ended up 5’2”. Legs grow first so she’ll have a growth spurt soon enough. |
No you don’t. |
This was my DD- she is now 15 and 5’7”- and still all legs. She was super short until puberty. Ended up a little taller than we would’ve expected based on parent heights (5’4”, 5’10”). |
| I have early sprouters. DC1 hit his main growth spurt from 11-14, slowed down 14-15, and basically stopped growing by the time he was 16 (5'11). DC2 appears to be on the same track, 14 now and only grew 3 inches this year after growing 4-6" each of the previous 3 years. So maybe 5-6 inches total after age 13? They are not the norm, though. Growth charts showed them both following a steady curve from toddler years up to 11, then sprouting way above curve, then flattening off and the curve 'catches up' to them, so they ended up right back on the same curve they started on. |
| My son was 5'8" at 13 and is 6'1" now (almost 17). So around 4-5 inches over 4 years. |
