How many more inches did your son grow from age 13 onward?

Over a foot and a couple of inches. DS was very short at 13, below 1 percentile. Now he is 5'11" So well over a foot and more.

Some boys get stretch marks, especially on their backs, from rapid growth.

I mean... what sings of puberty so far? If he is developed, then not much. If he has no signs of puberty, then he might grow a lot.

My husband did too.
He went from 5'10" to 6'4".
When we went to his high school reunion it's all people talked to him about all.night.long.

However, he did not start puberty until 15/16 (super late).

Same for my DH. Late puberty (15), he's 6'3.

Unfortunately, I'm super short, so DS will probably be average size but he only just hit puberty (15) and is short - 5'5".

OP here, his voice has not changed and he has no chest or facial hair. He smells a lot more now and is filling out in terms of bulk and body mass (he used to be skinny when he was 11 and is now very strong looking).

My kid was about 5'4" in eighth grade, 5'7" in ninth, then he really took off and was 6' within a year. He's now about 6'2".

My DH told me that he grew about a foot in late HS. He said his ankles would hurt really badly at night, and he does have stretch marks. He's 6'3".

My kid went from 5'7" at Thanksgiving last year to 6'2" at Thanksgiving this year (age 13 to 14). He grew a few inches the year before, too. He got Osgood-Schlatter in his knee (very very painful), looked like a fledgling stork when he ran, which is unfortunate for an athlete, and when he takes his shirt of at the pool everyone gasps and asks how and why he got whipped, because he has red stretch marks from his mid back to his lower back. He's pleased he is tall, sure, but has not been easy.

My kid looked about twelve years old when he went to high school.

As a college sophomore he's probably a foot taller.

DS grew approx:

5" from 13-14
5" from 14-15
1" from 15-16
1" from 16-17
1" from 17-18

Now about 6'4" barefoot and he hopes he's done growing.

Now at age 13 he is 5'5'' and at 50%. I don't think he has had his major growth spurt yet, obviously, but wanted to ask those with older sons how many inches their boys grew from age 13 onward. I know every kid varies, I'm just curious. I don't have brothers and my husband isn't very tall, but all the men on my side of the family are 6 ft or 6' 2''(my uncles and first cousins). So far our son has always shared my body build type, and that of my male cousins(lanky and lean limbs). He has very long legs now, like a baby deer, with really long calf bones. Do you think this suggests a lot more height coming? He is an athlete and hopes to be taller than his 5'9'' dad...

I think the fact that he hasn't hit his growth spurt yet is an indication that he has a lot more height coming.

In my experience, the tallest kids are the ones who hit puberty late. They're often tall as kids, and then their friends start passing them. But then their friends stop growing, and they catch up, and keep going.

Was it slow and steady, a couple of inches a year, or there were growth spurts, then the following year minimal growth?

It was in spurts. One year (like 15-16???) it was 6-7 inches and then freshman/sophomore year in college it was another 3-4. The other years were an inch or even less than that. So 2 huge spurts.

This does seem to be the case.
My son's friends who hit puberty early (11-12) have mostly ended up around 5"6-5'8" . There are a few exceptions but these is definitely something to it.

Agree wtih this as well. My son has always been in the 90% percentiles since birth & one of the tallest in his friend group. In 6th/7th grade many of his friends grew significantly, deep voice, facial hair. Pediatrician told us that our son is a late bloomer. He only grew an inch between 12 an 13 but here are his stats since age 13:

13 5'5
14 5'9
15 6'1

Still just a little peach fuzz on his upper lip & voice has started to deepen. Pediatrican thinks he will be 6'3 or 6'4.
