How many more inches did your son grow from age 13 onward?

My younger son is 5'8 and just turned 13 so no data on him yet. I am short (5'2) and DH is tall (6'4) so its kind of a crapshoot.

The families I know with super short moms and really tall dads--the boys never seem to make it up to the dad's height. Mom's DNA drags em down.

See this so often. Dad was a strapping lad and athlete in his youth who marries a petite woman. He's always disappointed and shocked when his kid's height is dragged down by mom. I guess people aren't terribly calculating when it comes to selecting a spouse. Maybe they should be if they care about these things.

Seems like it can go either way. We know a family where the dad is 6’2”ish but the mom is short (maybe 5’2”?). One of their sons is 6’0ish and the other is maybe 5’7”, both college aged so probably done growing.

A family up the street from us has a 6’3” dad and 5’4” mom. Their son loves basketball, while their daughter couldn’t care less about it. You can probably guess which one inherited dad’s height.

I’m 5’8” and Dad is 5’10”. Ds is 6’1” so far at his 15th bday. I have some 6’2 + on my side and I don’t think DS is quite done growing. He plays football and is hoping for another inch or so and another 20 lbs. he’s 175 so lean.

6 inches, but he is still on the shorter side. Went from 5'0" to 5'6," and is 5'8" at almost 17.

David Robinson was 5'9" as a junior in HS

OP, where your kid is in puberty can give you some idea of how much more growing he has to do. My 14 year old is smaller than your son but he still looks like a little boy. No facial hair, no armpit hair, no voice changes. Just relax. They all want to be tall. Not all of them can be. How tall are you?

My husband did too.
He went from 5'10" to 6'4".
When we went to his high school reunion it's all people talked to him about all.night.long.

However, he did not start puberty until 15/16 (super late).

Did he get a cookie

No crazy growth spurt and late boomer.
I'm 5'7". I should have been taller, but no food and no breast milk. Dad is 5'10". One grandfather was 6 feet though.

Breast milk has no bearing on height. Being underfed during most or all of your childhood can cause failure to thrive.

My almost 15 year old was 5”9 at 13 and is just shy of 5’11” now. He’s hoping for another inch or two but I think he’s close to topping out. Had a huge growth spurt between 12 and 13

I'm 6'0 DW 5'3. Our 12 years boy is already 5'8.

Our pediatrician gave a basic range estimate based on Tanner stage, parents height, age, and recent growth. Son is 13, currently 5’10”, parents 6”1 and 5”7. Dr guessed 6”1/6”2. Of course my son is hoping to be 6’4.
Truly, who knows where he will end up. Dr said she will cheat and just say father’s height😁.

But I thought height genes were passed from the mothers side 🤯

Why does he want to be 6’4”, does he want to play basketball?

DS16 grew 4” between his 15 and 16 year check-up. This is his biggest growth spurt so far. Pediatrician says he’s still in the early stages of puberty. He’s a very late bloomer and is expected to continue to grow, possibility into college, like his dad.

It’s easy enough to look up a chart:

https://www.infantchart.com/child/childrenstatureage.php

Most of the growth is done by 16, and about 1-2 inches are added after.

Growth spurt is 12-14.
