I've been kayaking with my DCs since they were little. ALWAYS with someone to hold, someone to paddle. Life vests of course, and I stay in calm water. I also take them tubing, boating, fishing, crabbing etc. It is totally worth the experience if you take all the safety precautions. It is one place they actually sit still!
Stretching and walking sounds like a good way to start. If you feel you are overdoing it, then maybe shorten your workouts or decrease the intensity for now. Make sure you are well hydrated before and after. You could try 2x a week this month. 3x a week next month. Work your way up. Your endurance, strength, cardio capacity will build over time.

Getting regular massages also helps me stay limber. I don't think I could stay so active without them.
I designed a henna-colored Philippine sun for my lower back, but don't know if I'll ever actually get it done.
Ruby Madrid, 703-536-3173. Very affordable and he practically does every house on the street, for years and years.

I don't know anyone personally in DC who owns a boat. But when I visit MIL on the Chesapeake, most people there have a boat...ranging from super expensive to super cheap. I also have a paddle boat and three kayaks, but they are not fancy at all...we just like the water!

I´d love to have a boat! It´s true that this area is great for having a boat. My question is, where do you keep it? Even though it might be possible finding a cheap boat off craigslist, doesn´t it cost money to park it somewhere? Just curious, as I´d really love to start looking into buying a cheap boat, if it didn´t cost too much money (or stress) to maintain it.

I keep it at MIL's house. I am just lucky she happens to live by the water and has space for us to keep it there, because it's waaaayy out in the country. I wish I could afford to keep it up here...that would rock! You could possibly find affordable storage out in the boonies. It makes for a nice, secluded getaway.

what's the coolest thing you ever found?

Although I love my job, I think I would also love being a childrens' book illustrator. That's my next career goal.
My cousin also worked at the zoo and loved it. I'm not sure what she did there, but now she is an ecologist and really into nature conservancy. She loves being outside all day studying plants and animals.
DH also loves his job. He is an NMT, studying to be an acupuncturist and teaches martial arts.
I liked being a designer. I love being a dance teacher. But I am doing both.
I am going through a big career change right now. I've spent the last two years trying to get to this point. I wanted to make the switch for a long time, and had I not been laid off, I wouldn't be going for it right now. It is scary and fun at the same time...weeks of interviews and many of my new gigs will not start for another month. So I'm in a bit of a frenzy right now, nailing everything in place. I've kind of traded security for passion. But I have faith that the passion will bring security soon enough.

What do you enjoy doing? I'd start there. Do you like helping people? Being outdoors? Art? Cooking? Turn whatever it is you like into your job somehow. If you like PR/Comm. but don't want to be in the office all day, perhaps you could teach it?
Your irritabiity is equally irritating. I'll post whatever I please. I come here for info, gossip and laughs. If that irritates you, then ignore me. No skin off my back.
I did have a desk job, and was at the computer all day. But since the company laid off half the staff, I now work 1-3 hours a day teaching. I'm on the computer in between classes—lining up gigs, marketing, interviewing, redesigning website, etc.
You know, Slater from Saved By the Bell. I'm LOL just thinking about it. Back when he had a jeri curl hahaha!

This was back in the day, when I used to sneak out of my room to go party at the Georgetown clubs and dance all night on a school night. Those were the days!
