Home renovation choices you now regret…

Anonymous
We made some bad decisions on a renovation we did two years ago, and it bugs me every time I see them. What was I thinking?? Obviously we won’t be paying to replace something brand new, so I’ll just have to deal with it. Hoping to commiserate with other homeowners who are dealing with this too! What home improvement choice do you regret?

If you really don’t like it, fix it.

In my case it wasn’t something I did but something I didn’t do. Our old house has arches between the living, dining and stairway. I did not include an arch in the design of the kitchen and it was such a missed opportunity. Still mad thinking about it!

It shouldn't be difficult to make a square opening into an arch.

It would be much more interesting if you specified what it is that you regret.

I assume everyone is now starting to regret all the shiplap and barn doors? Not yet?

I regret the tile color in the bathrooms. Also laminate flooring.

I don’t have any regrets but in five years I may realize I have bad taste.

I should have widened two doorways before I put in hardwoods. No one will notice but me but it was a missed opportunity that would be too expensive to bother with now, in addition to challenge of matching the hardwoods

I regret not adding a hallway to improve the flow of the house!

Indeed!

Pasta filler on the stove.

So wasteful, and already out of date.

Looks like we were trying to show off, or something.

I would totally use that. I cook a lot and it would come in handy.

Wrong! More folks are adding this and its called a pot filler

I cook with filtered water, so pot filler will go unused in my household.
