Is picky eating a deal breaker

Anonymous
I'm by no means a foodie, but I like to cook and try new things. Somehow got on the subject of food with a new guy and he's quite picky for example doesn't like mac and cheese, rice, fried chicken, any red meat, avocado, and herbs or spices, will eat fish specifically salmon, doesn't like most vegetables. can only cook eggs.

How difficult is it having a picky eater as a spouse or parenting partner?

It gets old very quickly.

Total dealbreaker for me. I don’t want to be with a man who eats like a toddler.

Also, picky eaters who can’t cook are the worst. Helpless in the kitchen, but expect people to cater to their very limited tastes? That’s a non-starter. I’ll cook what I like, if they want to eat it they can, or they can be responsible for their own food.

That’s an interesting question! I guess I never dated anyone like that. To answer your question, I don’t know if it would be a dealbreaker, but it would be awfully annoying.

Oh my god I’ll bet he’s terrible in bed.

Probably not adventurous in the bedroom either.

Thank goodness it isn't. I am a picky eater and I have been married for 30 years. I don't force my choices on others, but I won't eat things that I can't eat. I'm fine with being hungry. At this point in my life, every single person I know makes fun of my picky eating and we're all ok with this.

Nope, not at all.

A picky eater who doesn’t cook? Unless you want to spend your life eating boring meals and in the kitchen, I’d pick a new man.

That level of picky eater would be a dealbreaker for me.

I don’t eat everything—I’m a pescatarian for one—but I like to try new cuisines and couldn’t deal with someone like that.

Is this the new " I'm a vegan" " I'm gluten free" I keep seeing it in people's profiles?

Huh? No. Being a pescatarian is hardly new, for one. I could explain my reasons to you, but you sound pretty judgmental.

DH is a picky eater. He’s lucky he has many other fine qualities because it is certainly annoying at times.

To add: Pescatarians have been around since Pythagoras. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pescetarianism
