Wuhan virus (coronavirus) arrives in the USA

No, but I would require everyone who has just landed in the US from Asia (not just China) to be quarantined and tested before they're able to get off their flight.

You would keep people on an airplane for 2-14 days? Even if no one ended up having this virus, it would quickly become a public health risk for other illnesses.

"CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 6.4 million flu illnesses, 55,000 hospitalizations and 2,900 deaths from flu," the CDC said. That’s almost 2 million more illnesses and 800 more deaths than reported in last week's update.

I get that people are worried about what might happen with this new virus. But, in the US, we're still going to school, grocery stores, and generally carrying on as normal with an infection rate in the millions and many more deaths and a MUCH smaller population than China.

Most flu cases don’t require hospitalization. In patients with Corona virus, out of 40+ people a third required mechanical ling ventilation. Where do you find resources for thousands of people?

That was put of those admitted to hospital, not out of those with the virus, i think.

Well, they can’t admit them to hospital anymore.

. Again strangely written. Very strange.

Probably a supporter of “limited government” getting excited about a state of emergency. Ignore. We know that China doesn’t have a good track record of truthfulness, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Uh ... no. The WHO has actually praised China’s response. You know better than the WHO? Highly. highly, highly doubt it

They are doing a great job.

Since we are quoting news sources

https://www.businessinsider.com/wuhan-coronavirus-face-masks-not-entirely-effective-2020-1

"N95 respirators filter out most airborne particles from the surrounding air, preventing wearers from breathing in particles down to 0.3 microns in diameter. These types of masks are often used when air quality is poor due to wildfire smoke or pollution, and they're designed to be tightly fitted. However, the coronavirus is 0.12 microns in diameter."

Look, viruses don’t typically free float, they travel on droplets which are usually 5 microns or larger and will be caught in an N95 mask. The CDC recommendation for N95 masks is for health care workers working with the sick. That, plus eye protection will help. Is it a guarantee? No, as the case of the doctor in Wuhan shows, not even a full hazmat suit is a guarantee, but for those of us who aren’t planning on wandering into a hospital full of coronavirus ill, a mask and eyewear is a good compromise.

Was at local cvs to get a mask for domestic travel. Sold out - the whole section wiped clean.

The same poster just keeps writing the same thing. Wonder if this person will show up for the election to influence.

Do you have a link for the VT unconfirmed case?

A friend of DD said that a professor told his class that he had been notified of a possible case at the school.

Hmmmm...they aren't reporting on it or releasing any statements about it like Mason did yesterday

Whistleblower nurse says 90000 cases in China.

I apologize. VT is monitoring but there are no potential cases. I received misinformation from someone saying they saw it on Twitter.
