. Again strangely written. Very strange.

Probably a supporter of “limited government” getting excited about a state of emergency. Ignore. We know that China doesn’t have a good track record of truthfulness, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Uh ... no. The WHO has actually praised China’s response. You know better than the WHO? Highly. highly, highly doubt it

Good to know.

The first doctor in Wuhan who called this virus similar to SARS was arrested in December. He is now in critical condition.

Well, if that’s true, then that seems like it was a misstep.

I take Vox with a grain of salt, but they cited a study suggesting the first appearance was in November. Gulp.

No, it's the usual response in China. Not a misstep.

Universities will become epicenters and students travelled back before lockdowns. I predict that there will be some unexpected vacations from class

"CDC estimates that so far this season there have been at least 6.4 million flu illnesses, 55,000 hospitalizations and 2,900 deaths from flu," the CDC said. That’s almost 2 million more illnesses and 800 more deaths than reported in last week's update.

I get that people are worried about what might happen with this new virus. But, in the US, we're still going to school, grocery stores, and generally carrying on as normal with an infection rate in the millions and many more deaths and a MUCH smaller population than China.

Most flu cases don’t require hospitalization. In patients with Corona virus, out of 40+ people a third required mechanical ling ventilation. Where do you find resources for thousands of people?

Let’s see how it behaves the US. Those students coming from Wuhan have had ground 0 exposure. Question is, what’s the hospitalization rate when the virus has gone from them to another to another. If your stat remains constant as it transmits farther from the epicenter, then worry. We don’t have that data yet.

It was a WHO doc who tried to refuse me rabies vaccine for an indirect exposure - in Fairfax County, where rabies is endemic and they are shrugging. I also live in an area (rural Fairfax) that sees more than their fair share of cases due to the acreage. He left the room and the nurses said “It’s covered by your insurance, he can’t tell you no. Tell him you want the vaccine” which is what I did.

WHO has "publicly" praised the response because such kowtowing is necessary to get continued cooperation, but there are plenty in W.H.O. who are less than happy with how this was handled.

Don't mistake the public statements of politically savvy WHO leaders for the actual sentiment of WHO doctors.

Flutrackers.com was noting odd pneumonia outbreaks in Wuhan as early as last Summer, which is why when the "SARS" announcement came out in December they were ready for it as they had been watching closely for months. New studies are showing a patient zero slight before the Dec 31 announcement though. The tracking continues....

A friend of DD said that a professor told his class that he had been notified of a possible case at the school.
