She lives a nice life, but doesn’t have the benefit of building a career during that time.
Now she’s in menopause he is over her, and she should deal with what she can afford now that she’s been out of the workforce and not building a retirement for 2 decades.
Do I have that right?

Sure, if you’re totally insane.

Not a strong rebuttal there…

One doesn’t need to refute insane people with logic. It’s enough to point out the insanity.

How is he over her???

She filed for divorce.
He didn’t renew Yellowstone because she complained about him never being home, then she divorces him.

No one forced her to sign the prenup and she’s been gallivanting with a friend of his in Maui but he is the one over her?

Even if Christine isn't smart or educated or good with finances.... he married her and thought she would be a good mother for his children. They were married for 20 years. He is acting like a pluperfect JERK. No amount of spin will change that fact.

ITA. He wouldn’t even notice $15-20M and she’d still have to adjust her lifestyle downward. The kids will notice her drastic lifestyle change and blame their dad for not taking care of her.

They’re going to blame their mom for blowing up their family due to boredom.

That's how I see it too. They were married for a long time and have three kids(!)

He offered her $60k child support, offered to cover all the kids expenses and I think 1.5m towards a house and she said no. The judge set child support at $63k, so in line with what he offered, she gets no housing assistance and has to cover 50% of the kids expenses…she is stupid.

He offered her 40k a month.
I don’t think posters here understand how much a crazy change that would be for her. It would mean moving to a completely different town, and would absolutely impact the kids.

The kids will know that all the money comes from dad cause mom does nothing but spend and lounge around the house all day.

Do you really think Kevin wanted her to work? I sympathize with Christine. I've been a SAHM for 20 years. DH does not want me to work. i've tried. I'm not married to someone as rich as Costner, but can relate on some level. Men like this want you to be available for whatever their needs are. They care about your looks a lot. They also see everyone as replaceable and upgradable, especially when you are menopause age. I'm so glad I refused to sign a prenup. She should be getting half of everything accrued during their marriage.

You are your husband’s subordinate so he can tell you what to do? You going to end up like Christine…you didn’t sign a prenup but he probably will hide all his money then leave you in for a younger female.

She’s the one who is over him; she filed for divorce. If she know she has nothing and had no intention of supporting herself, she should have stayed with him.

Same. I don’t really get the histrionic poster(s) going on and on about what a jerk he is. I do not see it.

I'm not histrionic, but yep-- I still think he's a pluperfect jerk who's worth 400 million. FWIW, I'm not impressed with her either.

He should have bought her a decent house.

Yeah, we get it. You keep using the weird phrase “pluperfect jerk,” which nobody normal uses. You aren’t convincing anyone.

The kids will read the press coverage and filings themselves some day, and Christine will not come out on top there.

I don’t need to, because you are so enamored of the phrase that you use it ceaselessly. I could not avoid it if I wanted to

I don’t think you even know what it really means. Other than a use in the Silence of the Lambs, it is an obsolete word that doesn’t have a clear meaning outside of a verb tense.

I did look it up, only to realize that it isn’t considered vocabulary and you likely don’t really know it’s meaning either.
