I can see how Kevin’s ex can see how she is entitled to more child support.
I mean, she WAS married to him a significant amount of time and the kids did get used to a certain lifestyle in life. It would be unfair for them to live a less than ideal lifestyle just because their parents are divorcing in my opinion. However since they are all teenagers now - Kevin’s ex would only get her support for no more than five years. After that, she will be entirely on her own. It seems yesterday in court Kevin got his wish and his monthly support amount was lowered. I am sure Christina is not happy w/the amount being cut in half (looks like she will have to find a rental less than $40,000/month) but she is fortunate to have five figures a month as a single mother. |
Oh my lawd!!! What is she going to do when she figures out the child support ends in 5 years. |
This happens to divorcing families and their kids every day of the year. Divorce is not ideal, period. |
Do you really think Kevin wanted her to work? I sympathize with Christine. I've been a SAHM for 20 years. DH does not want me to work. i've tried. I'm not married to someone as rich as Costner, but can relate on some level. Men like this want you to be available for whatever their needs are. They care about your looks a lot. They also see everyone as replaceable and upgradable, especially when you are menopause age. I'm so glad I refused to sign a prenup. She should be getting half of everything accrued during their marriage. |
So the man gets to steal 20 years of her youth and vitality.
She lives a nice life, but doesn’t have the benefit of building a career during that time. Now she’s in menopause he is over her, and she should deal with what she can afford now that she’s been out of the workforce and not building a retirement for 2 decades. Do I have that right? |
That's how I see it too. They were married for a long time and have three kids(!) |
I’m not saying it’s right, I’m just saying this is how these delusional people live. I personally think it’s pretty pathetic, but hey, they pay my bills! |
Sure, if you’re totally insane. |
I hope you didn’t have daughters. What a terrible marriage for them to witness. |
Not a strong rebuttal there… |
He offered her 40k a month. I don’t think posters here understand how much a crazy change that would be for her. It would mean moving to a completely different town, and would absolutely impact the kids. |
I agree as well. Men like him make me sick. The only reason I don’t feel sorry for her, though, is that he had already done this to his first wife (left her after she was old enough to have finished raising his kids and then went and started over with a younger woman and made a totally new family). Not saying she did anything wrong, but that was a flashing red sign that this man is trash who does not want his wife to be his partner in life. |
She doesn’t work so what the eff else is she doing all day?! |
I totally believe that, but I don’t think Kevin Costner is obligated to provide financial support to allow her to sit on her @ss all day while family assistants and nannies deal with their teens. |
She is leaving HIM! So no, you don't have it right. |
