I’m a nanny and I’ve watched my lazy bosses do nothing for the past year. And the mom wonders why her kids cry when I leave? She has spent no time with her kids for the past year. I used to feel bad for her when the kids would favor me, now I understand it.

Southern values haven’t changed much in a few centuries.

If they are vaxxed themselves they will be fine.

They are not “reluctant.” They are lazy.

Spot on. I am lazy too. I am not a low wage worker but I get by on UI. My salary was $2100 per week, UI is $1500. For $300/week I can buy myself some sunshine in the middle of the day, some sleep in the morning, a little less stress ans a little more attention to my child. I am also eligible for some benefits now that I wasn’t before. It’s worth it.

Sorry it’s per 2 weeks, not per week! Ugh

This. Vaccines are available. No worries xcuse fir an adult to get out and find a job. May not be their first choice, but time to re enter the world.

My cousin is making more money sitting at home (from federal and state benefits) than if she got off the couch and reported to work each day. There's no incentive.

She, and I'm assuming thousands of others, are in the same boat, hence the countless job opportunities and employers scrambling to fill jobs especially as "normal" (and seasonal) jobs are insight.

And she's vax'd so she really has no excuse.

Why do you think that reflects poorly on her, rather than the low wage employer's taking advantage of people? She did the math and made the smart choice. The one time the system shakes out to advantage workers, psychos like you are chomping at the bit to see them relegated back to serfdom.

I'm not the poster, but I think that anyone who earns more on unemployment should either pursue higher education or a trade such as plumbing. Fast food jobs are for teens and college students, not 30+ year old adults.

Do you also complain about the poor service you get at such establishments? Someone has to do those jobs. If everyone who does them goes off and gets a degree, who will serve you your hamberders? Newsflash: teens and college students have expenses too, and they ALSO don't want to work for $7.25/hour. And businesses don't want to hire them.

DP. I am actually for replacing all cashiers by self service kiosks and cooks in the back can be illegals who aren’t eligible for benefits. Problem solved!

Excuse is people aren't paid a living wage and don't want to go back to s***** jobs with no benefits and rotating schedules. Companies need to do better

Come September, these people won’t have a choice.

Let's see how many businesses fail by being stubborn before then. Also people are waking up to the reality that they DO have a choice. I don't think it'll be immediately back to the old ways just because their benefits get dialed back a little. A lot of them are using the time to re-train for other jobs. Some industries will be forever changed.

I love how this thread is all about wah people crying about taking about poor peoples benefits, when the actual lower-middle class workers who are still working (I’m a nanny as well) want people to get back to work. It’s NOT FAIR that I had to work for the past year while with entitled and lazy parents while the rest of you nannies and other food service workers stayed home.... making more than me?

Skilled Nannies were in high demand during the pandemic. I saw listings for $7,000/month with paid room & board last summer. Why didn’t you negotiate a better salary and benefits?

You sound as immature as the babies you supposedly care for. Waaaaah it's not fair! Instead of thanking your lucky stars that you maintained your employment when so many others didn't.

The poster is just plain dumb or too ethical to not take advantage of the free handouts.
