They are not “reluctant.” They are lazy. |

Any wonder the no-mask, former slave states are looking to force low wage workers to risk their health as they are placed back into frequent contact with anti-vaxx white conservatives?
Southern values haven’t changed much in a few centuries. |
| The vaccine won’t be effective for 5-15% of the population. |
I'm not the poster, but I think that anyone who earns more on unemployment should either pursue higher education or a trade such as plumbing. Fast food jobs are for teens and college students, not 30+ year old adults. |

Re: this "news" story. Whatever. It's not a big deal.
Leaders are doing what they can to help. Leaders are doing what they can to meet their local needs. Let's not get so upset about everything. |
And yet their positivity rates are the lowest and their economic recovery pace the highest. Go figure! |
Uh. The south has consistently had some of the highest positivity rates and Covid case rates in the nation. |
| Sooner or later, people need to work and produce. There is no such thing as a demand-only economy. I don’t understand why people don’t get this. It will be no good getting a check from the government when a loaf of bread costs $20. |
You sound so ignorant. As if the only low paying jobs are in McDonalds only. Have you considered the cost of childcare as well?0 |
My brother, who has been collecting unemployment, is not lazy. He's rational. People on DCUM don't seem to get that, for your typical exempt hourly worker, hours can be unpredictable in addition to the pay not being much better than unemployment. There is no promise that you're going to get 40 a week, no matter how willing you are to work 40 (or 50 or 60). And employers have been even more prone to call you off shifts during the pandemic. |
The unemployment payments have been MUCH better than fast food. It's actually been competitive with trades. |
Sure. You keep telling yourself that, Gov Cuomo. |
Wrong audience. Some of us can actually read and understand data. But nice try DeSantis. |
Do you also complain about the poor service you get at such establishments? Someone has to do those jobs. If everyone who does them goes off and gets a degree, who will serve you your hamberders? Newsflash: teens and college students have expenses too, and they ALSO don't want to work for $7.25/hour. And businesses don't want to hire them. |
How are they "risking their health"? Vaccines aren't exactly hard to come by anymore. |
