1000x this. Having a carefully crafted public image is good business for many of these women. The better they are at that, the more they are despised. Think about that for a minute. |

Agree with PP that the only person listed in this thread who is unequivocally a narcissist is Trump, with Cruise a possibility.
Not one other person listed here has demonstrated symptoms of true narcissism. |
| What’s the difference between a narcissist and a sociopath? I think of people like Kevin Spacey as a sociopath. |
| Doesn’t Tom Cruise have a reputation for doing incredible acts of kindness for complete strangers on occasion? He seems arrogant (but I mean, he’s Tom freakin Cruise so why wouldn’t he be) but I don’t understand the armchair narcissist diagnosis? |
Well, he thinks he's some kind of Scientology Messiah. If that's not an overinflated sense of self-importance I don't know what is. |
. I see. He is a narcissist because you don’t like his religion. (I would argue that he actually IS incredibly important in Scientology) |
| No ones mentioned Kanye??? |
And it’s exactly the same for male celebrities. |
He's bipolar and also borderline but to diagnose a narcissist, I'd need to know more about him. |
Not even remotely true. Bethany Frankel and Meghan Markle have demonstrated symptoms of NPD over and over again. |
+1 I think we'd all be happier and healthier as a country if we stopped worshipping politicians and saw them instead in more practical terms. I worked for the least powerful member of Congress for a year and even HE was a raging narcissist. They all are. They're often charming, too, as many narcissists are. And if you don't have to live or work with them you may even think they are normal humans capable of normal empathy. |
I agree. |
I do in fact have a problem with dangerous cults. But the cult didn't make him a narcissist. He was sucked into it BECAUSE he's a narcissist. |
| I am surprised no one has mentioned J Lo and A Rod. Now maybe they are currently working on being better than each has been on their own during the past two decades, but twenty years ago, truly..they had both been singled out in their respective fields, which were both swarming with narcissistic people...to have been especially horrible. I think they struggled during the pandemic because they lost the narcissistic supply of their public. I think she wards off her embarrassment about her multiple marriages by suggesting the early ones don't count and his past speaks for itself. |
| Sadly, Sharon Stone. I like her but her enormous self involvement and tendency to think her own individual experiences are universal, and the seriousness in which she takes herself wreaks of a very fragile core. Absolutely disagree on Obama. He is capable of a deep empathy, has had one marriage, where he worked through difficult times, is beloved by his children and people who know him well and he had the credentials and skills that drove his leadership...he laughed at himself, he was not grandiose or thin skinned. |
