Any guesses where Pete and Chasten Buttigieg will live in the DMV?

Pete bought that house before he met Chasten. It was a major fixer upper. Think he paid like $150K for it at the time. Hopefully he can be Kamala’s VP in ‘24 because the VP Residence at the Naval Observatory would be perfect for them!

Given this... maybe Foxhall or Palisades.

Sh-t, that's gorgeous. Makes me want to temporarily trade him my 5-bedroom in Bethesda with a fenced yard, and I'll take the house in South Bend. If he and Chasten would take my husband too, I'd definitely do it. I bet it's nicely decorated even.

Nope. That house says money pit to me. And neither Pete nor his husband strike me as part-time contractors.

huh, yeah, I'm not from South Bend but a similar midwestern town that has seen better days and usually houses that look like that aren't very nice. Every once in awhile you'll come across one that's just gorgeously restored but not sure if that's the case here. Maybe.

Kitchen looks nice.

I think Dog Parks, Privacy and Room For A Kid will be their priorities. And something budget friendly. Agree that renting probably will give them the most options for now.

The kitchen is not from that house. They bought a small vacation house in Michigan to get away from the prying eyes and to be close to Chasten’s parents. They’ve had it for a few months, but it needed work too. The new kitchen is AMAZING!!

I think the Maryland and NOVA burbs are out. Will definitely be somewhere in DC.

Probably because its only room in the house with lighting. Pete doesn't even have an office - yet only he and Chasten live there. A house like this has poor lightning, insulation needs updating to the last 30 years, needs floors restored, resurfaced woodwork, wiring replaced.

Looks like they started with the kitchen or it was sold with a somewhat up to date one. Everything else hasn't been touched.

They don’t have a kid yet, and for gays it takes years. Unless they’ve already been actively working on it for years, they’re not factoring in a kid right now.

And budget won’t matter. Between they’re book deals and speaker fees they’re rolling in it.

LOL at the person saying he'll take the metro to work.

Pretty sure cabinet level folk get motorcades.

Oh, nice—good for them. Traverse City area is beautiful!

This may be tough with two dogs. Buddy looks small but Truman looks like a big guy.

Navy Yard has a dog park, so that would make things a bit easier.

Neither of them strike me as crunchy.

yeah. gay and crunchy aren't necessarily synonymous lol. Pete was a McKinsey consultant, intelligence officer, officer in the Navy...

Yeah, I agree that they're not crunchy. And they are from the mid West. I think Navy Yard, Rosslyn/Clarendon or Tysons.
I just read about the dogs. That changes my votes to Vienna or even Springfield. If they want to have dogs and kids then they'll want a house with space. It would also make working for FCPS an easy choice as the following spouse.

Yeah, the new Secretary of Transportation is going to sit in the soul-killing traffic from Springfield. Gimme a break.

He will have a car and driver. And while I don't live in Springfield there are some nice parts that aren't all shopping center.

Are you under he impression that it takes less time when someone else is driving?

Look - they're not living in Springfield. Give it up.
