They'll have sticker shock here for sure, but I think the Hill near a good park would probably work best for them. Something like this:

| He’s a runner so they’ll probably want someplace with good options for morning runs. |
Sh-t, that's gorgeous. Makes me want to temporarily trade him my 5-bedroom in Bethesda with a fenced yard, and I'll take the house in South Bend. If he and Chasten would take my husband too, I'd definitely do it. I bet it's nicely decorated even. |
What areas around here would have similar historic homes, with scenic views as this one has? I can’t really think of anything equivalent, either in terms of architectural style or views.. |
| Capitol Hill. It just fits the vibes I get from them. Plus, very close to work for Pete. |
That would be the Mall/along the river. |
| He’s also accustomed to being able to walk to work. |
Can't really walk to work in DC from a house like his old one. We'll have to see whether he chooses a similar house, or prioritizes short commute. |
There are a few in Cleveland Park that look similar to this and have views of downtown. |
Powell also had 3 kids and active duty officers don't make a ton of money (certainly not $199K a year) unless they're in Afghanistan for two years or have stars. |
Nope. That house says money pit to me. And neither Pete nor his husband strike me as part-time contractors. |
| I see them in Chevy Chase. |
| Old town Alexandria or mt Vernon by the water. |
huh, yeah, I'm not from South Bend but a similar midwestern town that has seen better days and usually houses that look like that aren't very nice. Every once in awhile you'll come across one that's just gorgeously restored but not sure if that's the case here. Maybe. |
