What do people think of Einstein?

How many kids (number and %) get admitted to UMDCP from Einstein?

FWIW, the neighborhoods that feed into Einstein are a mix of professional and working class. I have heard only good things about the school.

There are many of us Einstein/DCC parents here on DCUM. We try to give our first-hand perspectives whenever we can. You just need to sift through the threads to find the helpful nuggets from people who have experience in the schools and neighborhoods.

Honest Question. Why should we trust someone who is incentivized to rationalize why they send their kids so such a lowly rated school? Do you know much about the better schools ?

Parent in DCC (who graduated from a DCC high school myself, went in to prestigious college and grad schools) and I feel zero need to rationalize why I’m sending my kids to one of the high school here.

I’m answering the OP’s question, not validating the choice to live in this area and send my kids to DCC schools. The reality is kids with educated and invested parents will get a phenomenal education at Einstein, Blair, and/or Northwood.

DCC isn’t for you? Fine. Many of us love this area and are very happy with our kids’ education. We make enough money to live in other areas; we choose the DCC for many reasons, including schools.

Not PP, but we have sent our three kids to Einstein. We did not use Great Schools ratings as criteria for making that choice, because test scores don’t reflect the quality of education. We like the community, the teachers, the leadership, the school spirit, the arts. The mixed demographics are reflective of those of our local geographic area. That is a feature, not a bug.

I assume you are a W school family. Why should anyone trust you to report honestly on your experience with your kids’ schools?

That’s because your child will be DL.

Honest question: Why are you deeply invested in establishing that Einstein is a terrible school?

NP. Do the posters bashing Einstein think a school has to be homogenous to be “good”? I went to a very good public high school that was split between farm kids and professors/tech industry kids, and the differences didn’t seem to hurt anyone.

I know a fair number of Einstein kids from a mixed age activity and they are uniformly kind, grounded, and seem to genuinely like HS.

My kids are IB for Blair, but I'm thinking one of them might be a better fit for Einstein if they don't make CAP at Blair. The pre-IB English and the performing arts focus seem like a wonderful fit, and the slightly smaller size would also be a bonus.

Einstein has 1900 students compared to Blair's 3300.

NP. It’s already established.

They will mention coded TOP classes and what not which is there way of saying avoid the general pop at all cost. As one of the first poster said there is a reason houses zoned for Einstein are amount the cheapest in the DCC. It isn’t because the parents are frugal, it is because most parents don’t want them.

100% 300k difference in similar houses between Einstein Kensington and WJ Kensington. I saw a ring alert about gunshots last night near Einstein. It’s still transitioning. If you’re okay with that, go for it.

OMG this is such an exaggeration. I mean these people will stop at nothing to inflate their home values. Einstein is totally fine. There's almost 0 difference in crime in these areas.

The schools drive the property values. But you know that because you are zoned Einstein.

The elementary schools are changing rapidly within the cluster.

How are the elementary schools changing?

Oh please.. there is no more violence there than anywhere else. I'd rather have that $300K to pay cash for college and graduate school.

Why don't we discuss all the crime and hate at other schools and do a comparison of who has more, plus the drug/alcohol issue?
