My kid is in 8th in DCC and so we'll do the whole choice program. I've heard folks' impression of the other schools, but not much about Einstein. What do people like and not like about it?
Please only from parents who actually have experience or have friends with kids there. I see a lot of faulty assumptions about the down county schools in general, so I'd really like to hear what people who REALLY know it think. Thanks. |
| Opinions of Einstein parents are just as biased as any other. If you want objective views, do your own research. It’s not hard. |

Well, I asked what people like and what they don't like, so I'm interested in hearing from people with kids there. Also, in general I'd be interested in hearing from people who have tons of experience with a school, as compared with people who have no experience with a school.
This is part of doing my research. I'm not sure why the need for "it's not hard." |

I can tell you that the market considers it one of the worst schools in MoCo and house trade for huge discounts (as much as 50%) compared to comparable houses often just blocks away in different school zones.
Now if that is based on outdated reputations I can’t tell you but typically the market is smarter than individuals. |
What are you rambling about? Many of the homes are much smaller lower cost homes that those who have common sense and don't want to spend a million can appreciate. Its a good school. People are negative about it as its a very diverse school. Most kids and families are happy with. It has a strong music program. |
Yes the old “ the school is filled with rich people who want cheap, smaller and modest homes” argument. Guess you won! What next? the huge percentage of poor FARMs kids at the school are actually the children of lottery winners who gave all their winnings to charity and now lead minimalistic lives? Your well written (non-rambling) response has won me over

Weird, I live just a couple blocks from the Einstein/Northwood line, and I don't see that at all. |
Typical rudeness posted by a self righteous DCUMer. Asking questions on this forum is doing research. |
Many of us make $150-300+ and keep our small homes. I have no interest in a huge home that I have to clean and maintain and would rather save for college. Nothing wrong with kids from low income families. I'd rather mine to go school with those kids than be around people like you. We go to a low income school. Kids are great, families welcoming and fantastic teachers. |
Sure, but opinions of people with recent first-hand experience with Einstein are better-informed than opinions of people without recent (or any) first-hand experience with Einstein. |
| Smart guy. |
| One of the worst in MCPS. There I said it. |
Pp was referring to houses in the WJ district, not Northwood, I assume. |

Fantastic school. Wonderful performing arts program. A true sleeper school within MCPS.
The elementary schools are changing rapidly within the cluster. |
Lol @ “a true sleeper school”... |
