| Jeff please look at the thread “How will districts measure the effectiveness of DL” to see why there should be a separate FCPS forum. The question was not geared towards FCPS, yet many responders are assuming it is, and are giving answers that are specific to FCPS. This is a very normal occurrance on all threads in the Virginia Public Schools section |
| Similar thing at thread "What happens to Non-teaching Staff with 100% DL" a question turned into an argument about Fairfax taxes... not everyone is in FCPS but yet they assume we all are. Arguments constantly contradict each other, each county has their set of guidelines for DL and hybrid in schools but people don't see where the information is coming from anymore or where it belongs... frustrating |
Agreed. As a non FCPS poster, I tend to ignore posts that don't specify the school district in the title because the assumption by many is that the post is only about FFX. Other schools get buried or ignored. I think pulling FCPS away is similar to separating age groups in Parenting. It makes sense. |
FFX Underground trolls who aren’t even regular posters, and don’t have kids, and don’t know there isn’t collective bargaining in the entire state, are the ones who turn everything into a FFX tax rant. They will go away eventually. |
+1 The forum is overrun with FCPS posts and people don't sufficiently use the school district labels. |
| I would bet that most people who don't want it separated are FCPS posters. It's the rest of us that get lost in the crowd. |
| No. Keep it the way it is. I'm in Arlington and what happens in Fairfax affects us. |
Exactly, they don’t want it separated because 90% of the posts pertain to FCPS and even those that don’t start out that way get derailed into Being about Fairfax County. They have a mild interest in what’s going on in other counties as well, so they don’t want a separate forum, but they still get to have almost every be topic be Fairfax County centric. |
Not really. And you could always go to the FCPS board if you really want to see what’s going on there |
Precisely |
What’s further aggravating is that people will respond to threads that don’t have FCPS in the title or original posts, mentioning things like Baraband and Gatehouse without saying what those things are. It’s like they just assume everyone lives in Fairfax County even thought the thread did not specify Fairfax County at all. |
I don't have a child in private, but I will click over sometimes to see what's happening with DL or get ideas of what did/did not work. Just because FCPS gets split, doesn't block you from looking at the board. It just means that the rest of us can find information more easily without digging through a ton of FCPS-centric posts. |
Agree. Another APS poster not in favor of separate boards. Things will settle back. It’s likely just a handful of posters posting over and over again who aren’t adhering to the conventions, likely because they don’t post here regularly and won’t once things blow over a bit. Also, who doesn’t know what Gatehouse is and who Braband is at this point? It’s not offensive to me, and whoever is getting upset about it needs to chill out. I can drop into that thread and talk about Durán and Syphax and I wouldn’t expect FFX residents to become mortally offended. Geez everyone. |
|
Please separate them.
I go into VA Public schools and have to scan and sort through the threads specifically for FCPS. I wasn't here yet when AAP got separated but I'm sure that was a relief. |
| Leave them in the VA schools forum and ask people to abbreviate school division (APS, FCPS, etc.) in the subject heading. |
