That’s a great idea. Doesn’t look like AAP is used much anymore.

Please do not crowd out the AAP forum. It is less active this weird year because so much is not being offered. There are not many online spaces for the things that come up there which is why even people not in FCPS will post there.

If we didn’t have FCPS ruining this forum for the rest of us, maybe there would be room for non-FCPS posters to post about non-FCPS gifted schooling-related topics here.

I mean, anything is possible but the non local people posting there seek it out because it is gifted specific, nothing to do with FCPS or NOVA.

Has anyone broken it to them yet that AAP isn’t a gifted program?

It is so fitting that a discussion of whether there should be two forums to separate FCPS and the other school systems because of FCPS's tendency to dominate has now turned into a discussion of FCPS AAP vs. FCPS non-AAP.

Is the “VA Public Schools” forum basically “FCPS GenEd” to the AAP people? Can’t run far enough away.

Yep.

I am in FCPS. Support an FCPS board.

I would want to keep the AAP one though - I think part of why it was broken out was that non AAP families kept excessively posting on threads just to slam the program vs it being a forum to ask other AAP parents about thins.

So a new FCPS forum but keep AAP separate?

Whatever you decide, reconsider how you allow these forums to be moderated.

I routinely see overtly racist and sexist garbage on these threads, and yet see threads that don’t fit a teachers union narrative taken down. I am sure you can only pull down what is reported, but you are basically an echo chamber for parent bashing.

Please split! Thank you! I’m not a FCPS parent and it’s hard to see other posts.

I vote to keep them together. My kids are in FCPS, but I have friends' kids in FCC, APS, and LCPS. I like seeing what the different school districts do, and what their issues are. I like it when people from other school districts (or private schools) pop in on FCPS threads to tell us how things are done at their schools.

Jeff, is it possible to force a county-specific header on the initial subject line? With a dropdown selection? I.e. [FCPS], [APS], [FCCPS], [LCPS], [General VA Public Schools]

There wouldn’t be anything preventing people from using both forums. It just would be easier to find non-FCPS posts.

I’m a parent and I don’t hesitate to report teacher bashing posts.

You should maybe reflect on why you are misdirecting so much anger towards teachers who have very little control.

Please also add a Peloton sub topic in Diet and Exercise!
