SPLIT FCPC FROM VA PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

Yes fcps is more important and bigger

The common comparison is those distritcts with a specific area of Fairfax County public schools.

Fairfax county geographically sits in the middle of all of those smaller districts so when a poster is comparing schools between districts it will be one of the others with a specific part of fcps.

And this is another reason not to separate them. They’re in the middle of the region. Taking them out and leaving APS and LCPS in the same forum doesn’t make a lot of sense. It will blow over. They had their rally. I think the trolls will go back to FFX Underground soon.

Agree.

Together just makes so much more sense.

This whole covid thing will eventually pass, and the forum will go back to normal which means more balanced (Actually, like stated above, under normal circumstances, Arlington has a far greater proportion of posts related to size than any of the other districts, including fcps.)

It is helpful to have everything together, particularly for those who are moving into the area and trying to learn about the different districts or select a school.

This. Encourage posters to use their school district acronym when posting a topic -- this will solve a lot of problems.

We’ve tried that before. Doesn’t work.

Separate out FCPS.

What percentage of the posts here are actually from people trying to make choices between schools? Either way, though, I think a general “which VA public schools systems should we look at” post would properly be posted here even with separation, and people could still discuss FCPS in that thread because it would be relevant. But truly FCPS-specific threads would go in the separate forum.

Separating fcps makes it far more difficult for people using dcum for information while searching for schools.

Over half of the posts on page one are not fcps specific.

Maybe APS should have its own forum like the separate forum for PGCPS.

If any VA school district should get a separate forum it should be Fairfax County. Arlington only has 28k students!

I have always wondered why they have a separate forum. Probably got tired of everyone talking sh** about their kids and schools and the pervasive racism and requested it for that reason. Hope it was that rather than MoCo and HoCo kicking them out because they didn’t want to be “bothered.”

Given that there is not a huge amount of support for changing things, I'll leave them as they are for now. But, if you support a change, feel free to keep lobbying for it.

Yes, that was exactly it.

Yeah, then we can have a forum that is all boundary discussions and change.org petitions. I kid.

I think APS posters are marginally better at this (and it may just be 1 or 2 people)

I agree. Since MCPS has its own, I'd like to see FCPS have it's own, as well.
