SPLIT FCPC FROM VA PUBLIC SCHOOLS?

Agree. Another APS poster not in favor of separate boards. Things will settle back. It’s likely just a handful of posters posting over and over again who aren’t adhering to the conventions, likely because they don’t post here regularly and won’t once things blow over a bit.

Also, who doesn’t know what Gatehouse is and who Braband is at this point? It’s not offensive to me, and whoever is getting upset about it needs to chill out. I can drop into that thread and talk about Durán and Syphax and I wouldn’t expect FFX residents to become mortally offended. Geez everyone.

People didn't adhere before covid and now it's just out of hand.

We have done that before and people just don't know/don't care and post without doing that.

I go into VA Public schools and have to scan and sort through the threads specifically for FCPS.

I wasn't here yet when AAP got separated but I'm sure that was a relief.

It was a relief. And the same thing has been happening with FCPS posts overwhelming the forum.

Yes. Back then, even a question about APS GT would end up devolving into an AAP thread. It helped cut through the noise.

A few months back the Va schools board was all APS redistricting. It goes in cycles. I sort of keep an eye on all NOVA schools even though we are FCPS.

I think it’s a great idea

That seems reasonable to me given the amount of FCPS-related traffic that tends to drown out other school systems. But, I wanted to get feedback from forum users. So, what do you all think?

Yes. I think this makes sense. And, also, selfishly, if I"m looking for FCPS posts I don't like wading through APS, PW, Loudon posts, either.

Any way we can allow the OP or a moderator to fix that omission after-the-fact?

I doubt Jeff is going to want to spend time adding it after the fact.

But yes, people get into heated arguments and then realize they are in different counties.

Yes, maybe include a request to put school systems in the subject line, like the request for geographic designation in the real estate forum.

It’s not like people follow that rule in the Real Estate forum.

I am bumping this thread for additional feedback. There has been another request to split FCPS into its own forum.

I just looked at the 10 threads at the top of the forum (apart from this thread) and only 2 are FCPS-specific. I'd rather keep the current VA Public Schools/AAP split than add a new forum specific to FCPS. Do you then fold the AAP forum entirely into the new FCPS forum?
Anonymous
I vote yes for splitting off. no reason you can't look at the other forum if you are interested in APS, LCPS, etc
Anonymous
I’m in LCPS and feel like no one will read the forum that does not include FCPS. There will be crickets for responses.
