A moderate Democrat here. Above is why I will start voting Republican in state races. Compared to other civic leaders (ranging from GA Governor to NYC Mayor), Hogan has done a solid job. His lock down has saves lives, whether AA or other. Maryland is actually doing okay, compared to other states. |
| Hogan is restoring my faith in humanity. He is the sense of order we crave in a nation swallowed in confusion, stupidity and divisions that are turning into chasms. I am a AA Republican that sat out the Trump election because he is not a true Republican. He switched from a Democrat and does not possess many traits of a Republican leader. |
Hogan is restoring my faith in the two-party system. I'm a true-blue Montgomery County liberal Democrat. I didn't even vote for Hogan. But he shows how bipartisanship works. In Montgomery County, we have the double-edge sword problem of everyone being a Democrat. On one hand, I personally would not vote for any Republican because I disagree with their policies. But one-party governance breeds corruption. It doesn't work in China, it doesn't work in Cuba, and it doesn't work in Russia (functionally a one-party system), and it doesn't work in Baltimore and it's not great in MoCo. You need to have competitive elections. But at the federal level, there isn't much bipartisanship at work either. Mitch McConnell just sits there and blocks everything. Hogan is a center-right Republican governing a very Democratic, anti-Trump state. The legislature in Annapolis is veto-proof supermajority Democratic, with the General Assembly ranging from moderate to far left (we have two or three Democratic Socialists among our state delegates). And lo and behold... they GET THINGS DONE in Annapolis. I know people like to point out corruption in Baltimore, but Maryland as a state is blessed with good governance. Hogan is a Republican who believes in science and facts, and makes compromises with Annapolis Democrats on pocketbook issues. I am thoroughly impressed. |
He does now. Have you looked at the Republicans lately? |

Oh it’s just the right time to write a book and go on a book tour, Larry. Not like there’s a global pandemic and an economic collapse going on, Larry. And AS IF you have any chance in a Republican presidential primary, Larry.

Yikes, this thread didn’t age well. Thousands haven’t gotten their unemployment checks, and the 500,000 test kits from Korea were never even deployed. Now Hogan is shifting his attention to a doomed presidential bid.
Hogan is obviously still better than Trump and the doofus red state governors, but far from the superhero he looked like in April. |
A fellow moderate Democrat. I thought Hogan has been doing a good job, has faltered lately, but there is no way I will vote Republican down-ballot. Because most want to cut social programs that are so vital right now. |
| Hogan 2024!!! |
| If Hogan were running for President right now, I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He's way better than the 2 doofuses up against each other. |
The national GOP will never choose him. |
Why not? They'd be stupid not to. |
Hogan 2020!!! |
Yes, they would be. And that's exactly what they are. It's the party of Trump. Hogan could never make it through the GOP primary. He's not some Q-Anon nutcase. |
Aw, we all know Donald has his panties in a bunch over "Larry's" upcoming book, but the fact remains he has done a great job for ALL marylanders, Republicans and Democrats alike. He has won democrats over -- the exact opposite of what insulting, hateful "Donald" does on a regular basis. "Donald" can learn a few things from Larry Hogan. |
