I believe that the PP was referring to the complete failure on the part of the federal government. They should have been sourcing and purchasing tests for the states, as a collective effort from one central entity would save time and money. (and lives.)

Fed govt has been. The issue with doing it this way is that it is slower. But you do get a consistent product and maybe cheaper.

But the Fed Govt has been purchasing from around the world. Look, I am a hard Dem, but to say that the Federal Government is not looking out for the gov't writ large is irresponsible. There simply is not proof otherwise. This does not eliminate the possibility of picking up another 500K for a state through their own negotiations. Just remember that as you crush the federal govt, the worker bee's are primarily a-political workers who work regardless of what party is in and run the machine behind the scenes. They don't care who is in office. Their report titled 'Where the world manufactures ventilators.' still gets pushed up.

No, it's not life. We used to have a functional federal government. Now we have a system where 6 million of the country's 238 million residents only get enough tests because one governor happens to be married to a person who speaks Korean. That's pathetic. What an embarrassment we've become.

Coronavirus has traveled right down the I-95 corridor from NY and NJ. It's why Maryland has so many more cases and Covid-related deaths than Virginia or North Carolina. Given this reality, Hogan has done about as good a job as he could to deal with the problem at the state level and stand up to Trump on behalf of governors generally. Wouldn't vote for him for national office but neither would I blame him for things beyond his control.

The federal government has been selling supplies to other countries. The federal government has been telling states to bid against each other on the open market. And the federal government has been seizing supplies the states bought on the open market.
