Also, no better demonstration of the fact that the US response is a complete failure. Our access to crucial public-health resources shouldn't depend on the ethnic heritage of the spouse of the governor of the state we happen to be living in.

ehhh...this is life. If you want to practice IP law in China, you better have a few Chinese speaking lawyers on your staff. Same for practicing in Europe. If you want to close a deal with a Korean firm overnight, I can see how pleasantries and some final cajoling in Korean would be handy.

I used to be in the Navy. When we would have a ship pull into country X for an exercise, You better believe that we had Country X speakers even if we had to borrow them from 'big' Navy.

Which is why the fed gov't should be doing this, but they aren't. No reason states should have to go out bidding on their own to find enough tests.

The fed gov't should procure for all states, then have FEMA handle logistics of getting them to the states.

The fed gov't has the State Department so they have native speakers at embassies throughout the world who already have local contacts and can handle the negotiations. Yet.. they aren't doing this.

Why? Show your work.

Look around you. There’s your proof. MD is a sh!tshow thanks to him.

And I’m delighted by it, because I was one of the few here who voted for Baker.

Sleep in the bed you made, sellouts and racists. You wouldn’t support an AA Democrat, and now this is your reward for that. The 7th highest number of cases in the country, with just a small percentage of the overall population.

Brought to you by hogan.

? Now people are racists and sellouts if they don't vote for a AA democrat because they don't agree with that person's policies? ok, then. And no... MD doesn't have the 7th highest cases in the country.

Now I know not to take you seriously.

DC has a higher rate and I believe their leader is black.

For someone so eager to prove they aren’t a racist, your last sentence seems to suggest otherwise.

You’re not fooling anyone, Spud.

you're an idiot. I was pointing out that you are insinuating that MD didn't pick a AA leader and so now here we are, but DC has a AA leader, and their numbers are higher per capita.

Also, as stated, MD is not 7th highest count in country. DC is higher. That was the other point that went over your head.

+1, and who is Baker?

What are you talking about? I remember walking into the booth on election day and casting my vote for Ben Jealous who ran against Hogan as the Democratic choice. What on earth does Baker have to do with anything at all? One reason why I voted for Jealous over Baker in the primary was that Baker refused to support legalized cannabis. How can you rail against racism and at the same time support a candidate who would continue the policy of arresting so many black people for cannabis?

Trump just insulted him today.

I love Gov. Hogan. I've voted for him before and will do so again. If he ever runs for the presidency, I will strongly consider voting for him.

You don’t need to consider that because the GOP is too dumb to nominate him.

Trump totally threw him under the bus in the briefing. I'd love to hear Hogan's honest response to that, he is typically way too tactful when it comes to talking about Trump, although he's obviously just trying not to incur the wrath of the Idiot in Chief.

Trump's jealous.

I am so grateful that Hogan is our governor. And I have never in my life voted for a Republican. Hogan has done a great job. That’s what real leadership looks like.

No, it's not life. We used to have a functional federal government. Now we have a system where 6 million of the country's 238 million residents only get enough tests because one governor happens to be married to a person who speaks Korean. That's pathetic. What an embarrassment we've become.

Yeah, I don’t even understand prior pp’s example. There is a big difference between having speakers on a ship (which seems like the most basic diplomacy ever) versus a state scrambling to beg for masks because the federal government has failed. “That’s life” in Egypt or Romania or something, not how the US is supposed to be.

Trump's jealous.

Absolutely. No bigger endorsement for Hogan especially in this state. Bravo.
