PP said is, not was. Do you also think there’s a war on Christmas? |
Discrimination may be a thing of the past, but prejudice is not unfortunately. This thread and many others on DCUM sadly confirms it. Just as there continues to be prejudice against Jews. Both are minority religions in the US and always have been. We’re not real good about minorities of any kind. |
Yeah but Jews have it way worse than Catholics. |
| We don’t just deal with prejudice. People kill us in this country — literally. |
Nope. And you’re confusing Christianity with Catholicism. You really don’t get it. |
Is Catholicism not a part of Christianity? |
I’m not denying that. It doesn’t mean that prejudice against Catholics in this country doesn’t persist, however. |
Yes, but this thread isn’t about that. Stop making this about you. |
I have a good friend who is protestant who says grace before every meal, even when we are out to lunch, she'll close her eyes for a few seconds to say it. Was just at a hotel the other day and noticed the mother of a family also doing it. Both African American, by the way. |
Ok, cool. |
Catholics are not the ones running around complaining about the so-called “War on Christmas.” That’s what you don’t get. Although in your case, yea, you probably see all branches of Christianity as a monolith and are prejudiced against all of it. |
|
OP, did your family say grace growing up?
Have you sternly and flat-our told your mother that you’re not doing grace with your daughter and you really hope and expect she will honor your decision, even if she doesn’t agree with it. Remind her that as the parents, you get the final say with your child, just as she and your dad did with their own children. Say it in a no-bull$hit tone. After that, if she tries to start up grace at meal time, just cut her off and tell her she is being disrespectful. |
Umm, no I’m not. Stop making assumptions and making this about you. It’s not about Catholics or anything else like that. |
You may be belittling this poster, but I agree. Protestants say grace more than Catholics do. |
How is my response belittling this person? It’s just not relevant to the thread. |
