Your dogs are NOT members of the family

Here is what you do when they show up with digs, because they will. In your front yard(I assume you will be using the back yard for the party?) put a huge metal bars, dig them into the ground. Then put chains with links to tie the dogs on them.
That is where they will stay, or all the crazies can turn around and head home.

At this point you shouldn't be responding to anyone. You're the host, you said no. End of story. If someone brings a dog anyway they get turned away at the front door.

I agree. The dog owners will show up and make a big show about how their dogs are in the car. They'll conspicuously go out to the car several times to "check on" their baby. They will make such a prolonged scene hoping they will wear everyone down. Wait till they pull the "I didn't know it was going to be THIS hot and declare they can't leave their fur child in the car...at which point I really do hope OP (or her husband) says, "Then you'll need to head home. Bye." It's going to be a sight to behold.

And offer to make them a doggy bag to go. Ha!

Your house, your rules.
No.

Wow, OP, I can't believe your family. One unreasonable person wouldn't surprise me but so many of them?! FTR as others have said my dog is part of my family but I would never bring her uninvited to someone's house and ESPECIALLY if another guest has a bad allergy to dogs.

This is not meant as snark or sarcasm at all, OP...

but what are outdoor rugs?

Patio mats.

Not sure why you’d suggest that it might be a sarcastic question. It’s a normal thing to have in nicer homes. We have them too.

This sounds exactly like my family. I predict much drama.

Not the PP, but God that was an asshole response.

2. I don't take them where they are not wanted or invited, and never would take them to your place in these circumstances. Don't give in.

+1 totally concur with this. This fam is bananas.

Everyone, please just stop. This happens on every DCUM thread when the OP goes missing and there's nothing more to discuss. We're all riveted by the whole dog people saga but there's nothing else to know now, so everyone starts sniping at one another to fill the void. Let's just stop and hope OP comes back and gives us an update.
