Workout regularly including lifting weights to help fight off osteoporosis

Sunscreen
Retin-A
Botox
Regular haircuts. Keratin if your hair is frizzy.
Moisturize

Control alcohol intake (one glass of red wine several times a week is perfectly reasonable)

Update your wardrobe seasonally (use Trunk Club or other service if fashion isn't your thing). Use a good tailor to fit clothes well to your frame.

Quitting drinking altogether does wonders for ones looks. The most attractive 45+ women I know Do NOT drink alcohol (or anything besides water, tea and/or coffee). I get that you love your wine, but alcohol consumption affects your sleep, your weight and, consequently, your looks.

Alcohol has health benefits for the heart in moderation, no need to abstain.

But you can get the same benefit from meditation, walks in nature and prayer... which don’t affect sleep or your skin and eye bags.

I am not saying everybody should stop drinking but if you are 32 worried about “letting yourself go”...

A glass of wine a few times a week will not affect your sleep or cause eye bags. I believe in moderation in all things. I haven't let myself go at 40 with three kids, and yet I allow myself chocolate and wine etc. It's all about balance and I model the same for my kids.

Can someone give me an example of a person who is dressed up but casually and hasn't let themselves go?

What are you supposed to wear to the park if not jeans and a tee shirt?

I like how this person dresses. She mostly wears dresses and skirts but even when she's wearing jeans, she still wears jewelry and no tennis shoes.

It's funny you bring her up. She is always at the beach wearing uncomfortable sandals and a dress that looks like you'd lose your mind if you got any sand on it. It's a cute look but also seems like she's pretending to be an elderly Kennedy! (I like that look on her - elderly Kennedy cosplay - but I think for most people who get dirty or sandy or want to actually be able to go for a walk while they're out on vacation, it's not a very practical look.)

Huh?

^^^^yeah, but wine or alcohol isn't part of a balanced diet. Whether you believe it or not, alcohol consumption has an affect on your appearance. Perhaps you've been lucky up to now, but the effects are cumulative. You might not see it now, but you will see it down the road -especially when perimenopause kicks in. Cheers!

Looks cute on her but that's because she's a 20 year old waif. It would look cheap and weird on anyone older, I think.

Of course it can be. Light to moderate wine intake is associated with less weight gain over time, which helps maintain your looks.

There’s no way this woman is not in her mid 40’s. Face and hands are a dead giveaway.

this lady's social media is really something.

She strikes me as an aspirational Kate Middleton wannabe.

You forgot the lack of sleep, the worries that accompany being a parent, esp if you have SN kids.

I'm talking about the cumulative effects over time. The slight (and questionable) health benefits are not worth the cumulative toll it takes on your skin, stomach, internal organs, under eyes, sleep, etc. Not to mention the tendency people have to underestimate the amount they are actually consuming. I swore off drinking decades ago when I noticed it made me feel slow the next day, even after just one serving. My family and friends who report being light drinkers all have effects (poor sleep, belly pooch, dull skin and hair, etc) that I simply do not have at nearly 50 years old.

So you looked at 1 of 1000 outfits and stopped?

Do you know how the internet works?

stop trying to push your affiliate links on here, this is such tacky behavior

I’m not.

My nieces love her stuff .., plus it’s affordable.

You are just too old (and most likely too fat) to look good in her stuff... stick with Boden.

What are you, 13?

I think her clothes are basic AF so I must be fat?

You have no idea what I weigh. I’m acyalky pretty damn thin. I bet I am skinnier than you.

Eh I do all this besides the Botox.

But I still think I've let myself go. I almost never wear makeup, never "do" my hair (my hair is naturally very thick and wavy so I blow it dry once and let it do it's wavy thing).

I'm lucky that I'm naturally on the thinner side and I've been really strict about maintaining my weight and staying in shape by taking doing Pilates and Barre and running daily but I still wear casual clothing 99% of the time (jeans, tee shirts, casual sweaters - 90% of my clothing comes from Loft, J Crew, Anthro, and AG). At home, I downgrade to lounge clothing (joggers and a loose fitting tee shirt).

I don't understand why you feel like you are letting yourself go? Because you wear casual clothes and don't do your hair? If you are taking care of your skin, you won't need much makeup if any on a casual day. If you are getting a keratin treatment, you wash your hair and go - it's frizz free. Being casual isn't letting yourself go.

Sure it is. It’s actually the definition. If you’re waiting elastic waist pants on the regular (even yoga pants), you’ve given up on life.

Why wouldn’t she just take her sandals off on the sand?

Your post makes no sense.

She looks beautiful and carefree.
