Feds uncover large-scale college entrance exam cheating plot

Is USC even that hard to get into? Who the hell would pay $500k to go there?

Life is unfair. It always has been.

I see this with private schools in the area and travel sports teams. Kids that don't deserve or haven't earned a spot academically/athletically, but mommy and daddy have a big checkbook.

We have declined offers at travel clubs and then get the call they'll move our kid up if we stay. WTF? No. We don't get on teams or into schools that way.

Between 2012 and 2018, SINGER paid a Georgetown tennis coach bribes, falsely
labeled as "consulting" fees, totaling more than $2.7 million. SINGER typically made the
payments from one of the KWF charitable accounts and sent them to the coach via U.S. Mail,
including in several instances to the coach's residence in Falmouth, Massachusetts. ^
53. In exchange for the bribes, the Georgetown coach designated approximately 12
applicants as recruits for the Georgetown tennis team, including some who did not play tennis
competitively, thereby facilitating their admission to the imiversity.

Crying laughing at the footnote. These colleges need to hire the FBI's investigations team for admissions.

Yet another reason why schools should no longer be allowed to offer preferences or scholarships to athletes.

Exactly right.

To athletes or to anyone else except based on pure, objective, individual merit.

But not all of these kids were purported to be athletes. Some actually had other people take the SATs for them.

It's like it's not enough to say she didn't play highly competitive tennis. They have to point out that in actuality, she sucked.
