Wow, 9 months. Longest sentence to date.

It's gonna be ugly for Aunt Becky

I’m thinking 15 months minimum for her AND for her husband.

This dude plead guilty to less charges while Aunt Becky has 4 including federal wire fraud on her plate.

5 months in prison, two years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 for the 'Hot pocket' heiress mom who faked her daughter's ACT scores and got her admission to the University of Southern California as a volleyball recruit. The daughter's admission has also been rescinded.

Has everyone listened to Gangster Capitalism or am I late to the party? I had no idea they were able to write off their payment to this guy as a charitable donation.

You can attempt to write off “anything” on your taxes. However, if the IRS disapproves, then you’re on the hook for tax crimes.

No I realize that but they money they paid Singer went to his registered 501c3 (or whatever it is) "charity" that was set up to help "inner city kids" and he specifically told them they could write it off as a charitable donation.

Because liars lie.

If you’ll sell your kid out, cheat on SATs, lie and cheat your way to admissions, why would you ever stop when you can explain this large cash payment as a charitable deduction?

These kids would have enough money to not have to work during their lifetimes (assuming a 110 year life span). What in the world do they need a credential from USC for?

Well, if they're anything like Olivia Jade, they're there for the partying.

That was precisely the scam. They knowingly donated this payment to the fraudulent foundation instead of paying Singer a fee as you would normally do with an above board college counselor.

It was shady, they knew it. And did it anyway.

USC isn't even a "party school." A lot of the well known party schools are much easier to get into than USC.

Sure, but they generally don't have the prestige or the wealthy student body.

For those who said Aunt Becky wouldn't do time -

5 months for her husband Mossimo Gianulli

2 months for Aunt Becky

Plus a couple hundred hours of community service and a $250,000 fine.
