This story has me giddy. It's made my whole week. I hope they suffer real consequences for this egregious cheating and bribery.

quote from one of the wiretaps of a discussion with a potential client: "okay, so, who we are-- what we do is we help the wealthiest families in the U.S. get their kids into school …. Every year there are-- is a group of families, especially where I am right now in the Bay Area, Palo Alto, I just flew in. That they want guarantees, they want this thing done. They don’t want to be messing around with this thing. And so they want in at certain schools. So I did 761 what I would call, “side doors.” There is a front door which means you get in on your own. The back door is through institutional advancement, which is ten times as much money. And I’ve created this side door in. Because the back door, when you go through institutional advancement, as you know, everybody’s got a friend of a friend, who knows somebody who knows somebody but there’s no guarantee, they’re just gonna give you a second look. My families want a guarantee. So, if you said to me ‘here’s our grades, here’s our scores, here’s our ability, and we want to go to X school’ and you give me one or two schools, and then I’ll go after those schools and try to get a guarantee done. So that, by the time, the summer of her senior year, before her senior year, hopefully we can have this thing done, so that in the fall, before December 15th, you already knows she’s in. Done. And you make a financial commitment. It depends on what school you want, may determine how much that actually is. But that’s kind of how the the side and back door work. "

LA person here- You have to try really hard to be a loser in private school here to not be able to get into college (especially USC HAAAAAAA) on your own. This is amazing. The entitlement!! The younger daughter is screwed, not even ASU wants you now!

University of San Diego was on the list. Not UC San Diego, but University of San Diego, a private catholic school in SD.

Felicity Huffman's husband (not indicted) was chatting about how 'difficult' the admission process was just two months ago. Guess its pretty hard to wipe your tears with hundreds of thousands as you cut a check.

We’re right now in the thick of college application time, which is so stressful. I am voting that once she gets accepted, she maybe takes a year off. God doesn’t let you be 18 twice. I know from casting, if you need a 25-, 26-year-old actress, there are a lot of them out there and they’re really good. But if you need a 15-, 16-year-old actress, it’s tough. Sofia looks young. I think this is an opportunity for her. But it’s just my opinion, and we’ll see what she wants to do, what Felicity thinks and how the chips fall. My daughter Georgia, she’s interested in politics, political science and pursuing that. She’s in a very academic school and killing it.

Well in the penn situation, it’s a function of price.

It costs about 2-4 million in giving if you want your kid in at Penn.

But bribing a coach to put a recruit tag on you can be had as low as 75-100k.

Coaches in the Ivy League are poorly paid so are ripe targets for bribes.

not the one i know

Well...his daughter couldn't hit a ball shot by a toddler and she was probably dumb as a box of rocks. Georgetown has standards.

Her daughters are cute. They didn’t need college with mom’s connections in the industry.
