My SLAC alma mater receives between $10-20 million in donations a year. Some are from foundations. 500k would be a huge donation. |
Just not worth it. And to a lesser extent, the frenzy over what big 3 your child attends is fueling this race-to-the-bottom. Yes, some send their children their for reasons unrelated to college placement, but many are hoping it's a ticket to ivy league -- and it goes all the way back to choosing the right preschool to get into the right big 3 etc. How much advantage does a child attending an ivy really get over peers? Would getting a full ride to a well regarded state school lead to a worse outcome? This whole college keeping up with the jones is crazy and what is the real benefit at the end of the day/ |
This is what happens when you are corrupt and rich, but not Kushner or Trump rich. |
I am shocked Aunt Becky would do this! I know I shouldn't be but I am shocked, shocked, shocked! |
Why Huffman but not her hubs, William H. Macy? Did she not let him in on her little scheme? |
+1. This is truly crazy. I'd love to see a breakdown of their political donations and see how "progressive" they are. |
According to the book "The Price of Admission" Jared's acceptance to Harvard in 1998 was preceeded by his father's pledge of $2.5 million to... Harvard. Adjusted for inflation would that still suffice? |
Here's the guy's college counseling firm - http://www.thekeyworldwide.com/
And then he ran a charitable foundation which would provide a "full scholarship" to his college counseling service to 30 disadvantaged students. Parents would write a large check to this foundation, get a charitable deduction write-off, and Singer pocketed the dough. http://www.thekeyworldwide.com/the_key_foundation/ |
500k is NOT enough for two kids to go to a top school. It’s enough to be a tip for a very well credentialed legacy maybe. Most people do seven figures which means most legacy kids do not get the imagined bump. Some many people focused on URMs and legacies. This is just the tip of the iceberg. |

Not to the top 5 universities in the US. Wake up. These people were caught because they couldn’t afford the many millions it takes to legally buy your way into Harvard. End of story. |

Chill dude most of the schools are not top 5. |
I would love to get the data on these kids and compare their success to the rest of the population in their respective schools.
They probably performed the same. |
