Sad sad sad, but will anything be done about this?

Probably not. When it happened to Creigh Deeds some things happened for a while ( more beds were made available for emergency mental health treatment). Until it happens repeatedly to some important people nothing will change. That’s what it looks like.

I always think the same thing. Deeds really, really tried. However, he wasn’t high profile enough. Sadly, until there’s an A-lister, no one will care enough to spend the money.

His son also, tragically, died. So, Creig Deeds working on getting his son long term treatment was not something that Mr Deeds had to coordinate.

His son had a good life and didn’t abuse his dad I don’t think. But when he started having severe problems there weren’t even any beds for him in the hospital.

Seems there isn’t much Social safety net for these families. I’m sure this ruins people.

Looks like Dad moved to Pennsylvania.
Poor family.

Honestly, we don’t know what life was like for Dad before or after the divorce. Having a child with severe mental illness isn’t a walk in the park for anyone.

One parent survived, one did not.

Kids appear to live here.

This kid has pages and pages of traffic violations on the MD court case search, including a DUI. How are you even allowed to drive after that? What a mess. Dude seems like a POS.

A very, very ill "POS," apparently.

Dad has a peace order against him from 2010 and several business related lawsuits that he lost (landscaping).

His family agreed that he was a POS, obviously, in getting a year long restraining order against him.
Too bad mom hadn’t fled the area herself- waiting for the last kid to graduate?

Why did she get into a car with him??

A lot of the violations are for driving on a suspended license, though. So he wasn't allowed to drive, but did anyway. There's only so much the system can do.

"Kevin McGuigan" seems like an unlucky name. About half the Google results are about a former IRA assassin in Belfast by the same name who was murdered a few years ago by his ex-colleagues in some very complicated plot that caused the Northern Ireland government to collapse. Bizarre.

There are many families dealing with serious mental illness day-in and day-out. One way to help them is to support your local NAMI chapter.

For gosh sakes that is a cruel thing to say.
Why don’t you talk about how supportive you would be of a friend or classmate that this happened to???

How is that cruel? I was being sympathetic thinking that it would be one more horrible choice to make. My DD’s grades went down the semester after her cousin was killed by the police. No matter how supportive people are, you just can’t focus completely on papers and exams.

Say something positive or be quiet.

Hey internet bully, leave the PP alone. She was trying to be sympathetic.
