What do you mean? Does the phentermine effect your heart? |
It is FDA approved and has been around for years. It certainly doesn't carry any more risk than being morbidly obese for 20 years. It's a tool like any other. |
Hi! I am looking for a doctor in the area that will prescribe Qysmia. I went to an endocrinologist at Virginia Hospital Center and she prescribed me saxenda, which is $1200, per month (not covered by insurance). She said Qysmia would be an option for me and that another doctor she works with could prescribe it. So, I made an appointment with that doctor, only to find out that she doesn't prescribe it to folks that don't have diabetes. I do not have diabetes, but struggle with weight loss due to PCOS. Anyway, I would love any suggestions anyone has of doctors in the area who prescribe qysimia. I'd like to start working with a doctor who can prescribe it to me, but also monitor/manage as well. I'd obviously bring all of my bloodwork/info from the previous endocrinologist. Thanks in advance! |
Dr. Sonita Singh in DC is my doctor and she prescribed it for me. I have been seeing her for years as she is my GP and she knew I had tried to lose weight unsuccessfully for a long time. I'm not sure if she is taking new patients though. |
Is this something that a general physician who you have been saying for a long time would prescribe? Or does this have to be prescribed by a specialist, I have an appointment for a general check up in about a week with my interest and I would like to start this and wondering if this is something that he might be able to prescribe ?

Mine was prescribed by my regular doctor. |
One of the side effects can be high blood pressure. I’ve been on it for 3 weeks now and had a check up last week and my blood pressure actually lowered to completely normal (was a bit high before but not enough for meds). |
Or you could exercise....that's actually good for you...and I say this as a chubby chick. I am trying to do it the "right way." |
Many people have tried the “right way” to no avail. Do you tell people who are on anxiety medication that they should just stick to yoga to relax and if it’s not working they must be lazy or something wrong with them? |
I am the one who took Qysimia to lose 70 lbs. Actually, I lost the first 30 with it and then got off. Why are you harping on it so much? It is a tool and if it gets people the start they need, why not use it. If I could have done it without the pills I would have a long time ago. OF COURSE, I exercised and ate right. Pounds don't just come off because you take the pill. But it gave me the energy boost that I needed plus it was easier to make a choice between the burger and a salad. |
Absolutely, mine was prescribed by my GP. |
I'm not the only one bringing up the heart issue...i think this drug is unhealthy. And the idea that being thin and confident is better than risking a heart attack is really twisted. |
Anxiety medication doesn't have such serious side effects! |
That’s the other fen. |
