1. It was more than one PP pointing out about the risk of this drug
2. Defensive much?
3. Yes all drugs have side effects. It's well known that aspirin can cause stomach ulcers. It can also prevent heart attacks. You have to weigh the risks vs benefits. So if you are morbidly obese..probably worth it. I just objected when someone just wanted to look better and not nec. B.c they were having health problems because of their weight.

This is a diet forum. If you don't like people talking about medically supervised weight loss that includes short-term drug prescriptions, perhaps you should find another forum rather than continually derailing the discussion here.

Look, I had an MI at age 39. No risk factors. No high blood pressure, obesity, diabetes, clotting disorder, heart defect, atherosclerosis etc. It was just caused by stress.

It was super scary and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Esp not to lose 10 lbs to look confident in a bikini.

I am prescribed Phentermine and am monitored by a doctor...who takes an EKG every other visit.
Its a good drug for those who need the help losing weight. Just because you had a MI, doesn't mean others will. Don't poop on others.

For me, it helped me and I had no side effects. Zero.

I am on Qysimia now and it is helping me lose weight. Just be aware that you are not supposed to be on keto diet with this drug other wise you will mess up your kidneys. It is probably a good idea to drink water with one lemon every day.

I want to hear from more people who were on it and then went off... were you successful in keeping the weight off?

If you haven't yet tried it, it's free, has no unhealthy side effects (if don't properly), and might be worth trying before you go on a medication with lots of side effects.

I get migraines with IM. I'd call that an unhealthy side effect.

I have been off of Qysimia for 6 or more months. I was only on it for the first three months and then I got off. Not only did I keep the weight off, I lost an additional 30 lbs. I used it as a tool to help me reset my eating and exercise habit. That is all it is.

What about your heart?
You may not be diagnosed with anything now, but down the road, your heart could be in very bad shape.
It’s not safe.

Nothing is safe anymore. Might as well be thin and confident.

Or you could exercise....that's actually good for you...and I say this as a chubby chick. I am trying to do it the "right way."

I am the one who took Qysimia to lose 70 lbs. Actually, I lost the first 30 with it and then got off. Why are you harping on it so much? It is a tool and if it gets people the start they need, why not use it. If I could have done it without the pills I would have a long time ago. OF COURSE, I exercised and ate right. Pounds don't just come off because you take the pill. But it gave me the energy boost that I needed plus it was easier to make a choice between the burger and a salad.

I'm not the only one bringing up the heart issue...i think this drug is unhealthy. And the idea that being thin and confident is better than risking a heart attack is really twisted.

So in your opinion, which do you think is a bigger risk factor for a heart attack, obesity or Qysimia?

That’s the other fen.

From drugs.com on phentermine
Regurgitant cardiac valvular disease, primary pulmonary hypertension, palpitations, tachycardia, elevated blood pressure, precordial pain, ischemic events, angina, myocardial infarction, cardiac failure, cardiac arrest[Ref]

From NIH's website as published in the Journal of Hypertension, educate yourself.

Of these 113 cases, 2 (2%) used fenfluramine alone, 16 (14%) dexfenfluramine alone, 89 (79%) a combination of fenfluramine and phentermine, and 6 (5%) a combination of all three drugs. There were no cases reported with phentermine monotherapy use [59]. Since none of these cases of cardiac valvulopathy was linked directly with phentermine treatment, the US FDA required the removal of fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine from the market, while maintaining its approval of phentermine as a monotherapy [39].

Additionally, the outcomes for these people in the LONG TERM are more favorable than those who took the placebo. You can continue to use your imagination to judge fat people for trying to help themselves get healthy or you can choose to calm the fu%k down and take the time to understand the facts.

I just got a three month supply of phentermine from my dr today. Need to lose 25 lbs. Crossing my fingers and toes that this is the thing that finally works.

I called BeLite and they said they wouldn’t prescribe for me because their minimum weight is 159. I weigh 150 and am desperate to lose 15 pounds to feel my best again (menopause). Where to turn next?
