Anyone tried Peleton Bikes for the home?

I'd love one but can't justify adding it to our budget since I am not going to give up running several times and week and also fit in weight work (currently spin a couple times a week and/or bike in my basement).

So my affordable set up is that we have an okay spin bike (purchased over 4 years ago in the $600 range) and I do classes on youtube. There are actually a lot and they still make me work harder than riding along to my own made up class or just watching the news.

I also ride in my running shoes with baskets (do the same on my road bike in the warmer months) and wasn't sure if peleton bikes have the option.

All that said, I still consider both the app and the bike all the time!

I think if you already have a spin bike at home it's a harder sell, IMO. I wanted a good quality spin bike anyhow.

I'm definitely slightly obsessed with mine. Got one this year and love it.

I bought one yesterday and it will be delivered next week. I'm slightly sick at what I paid for it, but I'm really hoping it will motivate me to ride more consistently. I belong to a spin studio, but I'm only able to get there about twice a week and they are constantly switching the schedule and teachers, and I'm just over paying $100 a month for a subpar experience. I've never bought any kind of at home exercise equipment, so this will either be my one regret purchase or one that I will come to love and depend on.

I just finished on demand Cody and DJ John Michael’s Sunday live DJ 45 minute ride from this past Sunday and it was a huge party on the bike. Way more fun than any class at my past studio. Loved it!

I did that class too! It was a ton of fun, I was smiling while I was doing it.

Many this class was tough! I don't usually spend that much time out of the saddle, but it was fun.

I wish they had a studio in LA as well as NYC. It's annoying that the last live class is 8:30 ET. Plus, it would be great to get the LA instructors; it's a different vibe than NYC. Both excellent, just different.

I've heard a lot of complaining from other coast people about how the classes are so east coast based, and I think that they are successful enough to where they can open up a new studio in the Bay Area or Los Angeles. If they want to expand and maintain a customer base, they need to.

the people who are just using the app on a non-peleton bike, how is it going? do you think its worth it and/or do you get the same workout as a regular spin class?

Yes, you can get cages put on the peloton if you don't want to wear cycle shoes. Although it seems silly to not just buy a pair of cycle shoes since they make spinning that much more efficient and enjoyable.

I've been using the app for about 6 months now and like it a lot. Good variety of classes, even if I'm short on time. I also like the Beyond the Ride strength training workouts on the app. For me, I get just as much out of the Pelo classes as I do a regular spin class, but then again, I've never really needed the external motivation that comes from being in a live spin class. The live Pelo rides feel more inclusive than the on-demand ones, but you're still participating through a screen so it's certainly not like being in a real class from a motivational/energy standpoint. And if you're using a non-Pelo bike, you don't get to compete against others during the live rides. For me, that doesn't take away from the workout but I know others really like that feature.

I believe they still offer a free trial so you could always sign up and see if you like using the app with a non-Pelo bike.

I started running again but hurt my knee. I was obese and have PCOS. My doctor prescribed me a spin bike. I got a Peloton with FSA. Best thing that ever happened.

Seriously doubt Peloton will not continue to success if they don’t open a California studio. I do think it could be helpful, but it isn’t life threatening for their business. Most people do NOT take live classes, they take them on demand.
