Anyone tried Peleton Bikes for the home?

About the bike itself, it's high quality. It's higher quality than the spin bikes at my gym. I have been doing spin classes for 10 years in various locations and this is better than my experience with gym bikes.

I signed up with the 0% interest 39-month payment plan which includes the subscription for 39 months. I view it as a gym membership fee. I wouldn't use the bike without the subscription, so felt comfortable doing that, but not sure I'd do that if I didn't already have a history of doing spinning classes, though.

I will report back to this thread!

So what is your cost? I have not priced these but this thread has me intrigued. I do not have a gym nearby and this sounds like something I could do. Might be worth the (presumably substantial) investment

It's expensive. My per-month total for 39 months is $120. That's delivery and set-up fee, family accessories pack (more below), bike itself, full extended warranty, and monthly subscription fee for 39 months. When I was in the store they told me the base cost of the 39-month financing package was $97/month which I think is just the bike, delivery, and the subscription for 39 months.

You can pay cash for it all of course but in my case I was willing to take the 39-month subscription cost because I don't think it's likely I won't use it, given that I have a long history of spin classes.

The family accessories pack was because I was going to have to buy the mat and new shoes anyhow -- my existing cleats are SPD so not compatible and they are running a promotion right now giving $100 off the accessories. Also my husband wanted a pair of cleats and this was easier than him trying to find time to go buy cleats elsewhere.

I got the warranty because I have seen how gym spin bikes can wear down. Repairs are expensive.

Wow $4,680!! That’s a lot more that I thought it would be!

This is a bit of funny math

The bike, set up and delivered to your house with one year of subscription is $2800.

So effectively it is $2800 for the first year, then it is roughly $500 per year after that, so $40/month.

That does not include the extended warranty.

This is a good review of indoor spin bikes if you go the route of using the app ($12.99/month) with your own bike:

Yes, keep in mind the bike alone is $2000 and subscription is $40/month. Subscription alone over 39 months is a total of $1560.

I would definitely not do the 39 month financing if you think there is any chance you'd drop the classes because you're paying for that in the financing option.

I saw so many peloton commercials between Halloween and New Years that I feel as though I own one already. I was out somewhere and heard that Sia song that they use in the commercial and immediately started picturing the peloton screen. They win at pavlovian marketing for sure.

I’ve had one for a couple years now. Both DH and I use it though I don’t as often when the weather is nice and I can run or bike outside. It’s a great option to have tho for weeks like the past one where I have zero desire to go outside or haul myself to the gym before work. It’s not the same energy as you’d get from attending a real class, but it’s pretty good. And way more convenient. Its a great workout too - much tougher than I’d push myself to do when just running on a treadmill or elliptical. Robin Arzon is my fave instructor - she’s pretty funny - lots of sass.

Oh gosh this thread is going to make me do something I won't be able to take back!

Even worse, I've spoken to a couple of people I know who've bought the bike, and not a single person regrets it or has gone longer than one month without riding. I do work out fairly consistently but I have zero experience with working out at home. But the idea of giving up driving to my spin classes and doing it at home is so tempting.

Don't hesitate. It's awesome.

I have already booked two live rides for tomorrow. I seriously cannot get enough.

Let me know what you think - I take Flywheel classes and like their bikes so am thinking about getting one.

Any other favorites? I liked Nicole but I don't think she is there anymore so I am running out of her classes to take

I like Jennifer, she does a lot of the rock n roll themed rides.

I LOVED Nicole Meline. She left over a year ago. I follow her on Instagram and fb and she’s pretty active on both. It doesn’t appear she will be coming back to Peloton which is a real shame.

I also love Robin, Alex and Cody. My current favorite ride is the Robin and DJ John Michael 45 min Friday rides. I also get great numbers on all of Alex’s rides.

Did anyone read about Peloton announcing today they are releasing a treadmill with a tablet, and from the video it looks like they are trying to tap the Orange Theory class market. I am super interested.
