Anyone tried Peleton Bikes for the home?

It seems both hard and boring and I'm counting every minute. Any suggestions? I'd love to like using it, I'm typically a runner or go to Orange Theory but with scheduling conflicts lately I need to work out at home more.

I don't think it's would try if you just don't like it. You will just be resentful. I find running a hideously boring slog, and I don't think buying the Peloton Tread is going to change that. I know people who have gone from apathetic to liking something (running, swimming, whatever) but I think it's a lot harder if you actively dislike it. I get you, too; I tried for years to like running and I finally just admitted that it's not going.to happen. Sorry to not encourage you, but I think pushing yourself to do exercise you dislike is a recipe for exercise resentment.

Another question for those who have one at home: do you think it matters where you put it? I’m pretty sure we’re about to get one. I was planning on putting it in our semi-finished basement (it has lighting, finished walls, and HVAC, but painted concrete floors and an unfinished ceiling) where our treadmill and erg already are. He thinks it’s too nice to go in that space and that using it in a not very attractive space will make me enjoy it less. The only other place in the house that I would be willing to put it is in my office, which is a lovely, light-filled room, but right next door to my 7-year-old’s bedroom. I plan to often ride it while he is sleeping, and even if the bike itself is quiet, I could see him waking up just because I was walking around with cleats in the next room.

What do you think? Do you even notice the space around you when you’re riding or are you totally focused on the screen?

Why on earth are you in this thread with your totally non-responsive answer? Saying "I think I want to be Harry Potter for Halloween" would be as responsive. I do not get people like you. Can you read?

I like the taste of garlic.

I just sold my brand new one with only 26 rides ever on it for $1800. I'm a fitness junky/yoga teacher/personal trainer but I just don't like spin.

I know people who ride bikes, outdoors, in costume for Halloween.

I agree with your DH. For me location matters. For one thing there is an out of sight, out of mind aspect. But also, I like looking at something nice when I ride. Ours faces out a big picture window and I do look up and out fairly often. It's just more pleasant and I think that matters.

If you had earbuds, I don't think your child would even know. It's really quiet and you don't want to walk too much in your cleats anyhow because they will destroy your floors. I put a small stool next to the bike and get cleats on there.

I bought one today! I am so excited, it will be installed later this week. I’m a big spinner and have been wanting to take the plunge for months. I am positive I’m going to love it. Yay!!

Can’t say enough good things about it

Any thoughts on the best way to convince my husband that he might enjoy a Peloton? I tried it out a few times and loved it, but I already enjoy spin classes. What can I do to convince him (so that we can buy it)? I'm going to take him to a showroom - are there any classes in particular from the on demand files (or something else) that I should have him check out?

Thanks team!
