UVA student missing

Oh, I hope she is found safe soon. I remember being that age and how independent and invulnerable I felt. She looks so darned young. My heart goes out to her family.

Just because there's a black guy in the video doesn't mean it's the person of interest? Lots of amateur detectives on here!

Very very sad all around, I hope she is found but these stories rarely have happy endings.

Have you even watched the videos? There is a black guy who changes directions after Hannah passes and then is seen following her and then walking next to her, possibly with his arm around her shoulder.

Not pp but I had a hard time figuring out who folks were referring to in those videos at first. The guy with the white shorts looked to be alone both times he passed thru the video. I didn't notice him putting his arm around the girl I thought was Hannah, but maybe I didn't even pin down who she was. Definitely do not know all the details in this case but presuming the cops know more than we do, personally I don't have a reason to doubt the description of who they are looking for, but my assessment of the video is not that good.

Unless I'm missing some info, I don't understand why it took so long for her friends to notice she was missing.

Just thinking out loud, but if she texted she was lost early Saturday a.m. and then her phone went silent, didn't anyone follow up on her whereabouts SATURDAY? The reports I heard said people/friends didn't notice until Sunday that no one had seen her since late Friday night/early Saturday morning.

Am I missing info -- can anyone clarify?

Because college students are notorious for staying out late, partying hard and sleeping over/hooking up on the weekends?

What a shame, they lost that critical 24hour window so so sad

It is especially sad it took them so long to notice she was missing. I don't even think the roommates bothered to look until after her mother (or brother) contacted them.

This is my lone (I thought irrational) fear: that DD would go missing or worse at college next year. I'm actually thinking of insisting that she keep her FindFriends active (and keeps me as a friend) so I could locate her. I really don't otherwise care too much about her college life but I am crazy with the thought that she could be abducted.

I haven't seen the video or picture with the guy's arm around her. I hate to even think this way, but is it possible he was her dealer? I can't think of why else she would be at the downtown mall. I knew plenty of girls who were gorgeous, athletic, smart, from good families who used bigtime drugs in college. Or possibly she was drugged at one of the parties she was at, and was totally impaired at the downtown mall. I only hope that she is found alive and well. There are just so many odd circumstances around her disappearance. I hope this is a lesson to young people to stay together at night. I don't know why she wouldn't have hailed or called a cab.

The police questioned the black guy with dreds in the white shorts. He's a student. He said that he followed Graham because she looked like she was in distress and told police that before he could catch up with her, another man approached her and put his arm around her.

This second man was described by police "as black, between 5-foot-10 and 5-foot-11, 250 to 285 pounds, with a close-shaved head, goatee, and a slight "beer belly" in his late 20s to early 30s and wearing black jeans and a white t-shirt."

This person of interest is NOT on the videos

Haven't read through the thread but there was a rape/attempted assault in Fairfax before the Harrington murder. A 26 year old woman was attacked on her way home with groceries and dragged into dimly lit woods. The perpetrator attempted to strangle and rape her but a neighbor intervened so the guy got spooked and fled. He left his DNA under her fingertips and it was a match with the DNA found on Harrington, but wasn't identified in the national DNA database. The rapist was black. Hope they show that victim the footage from UVA so she can see if it was the same guy.

I'm replying to myself, just to make clear that whatever happened - it is not her fault. Just trying to make sense of an awful situation having gone to UVa and knowign the area very well.

Has this been answered?
I am curious about this, too.

the videos show her walking/running down preston avenue all the way to the downtown mall. people on twitter have been speculating that maybe she was given roofies at a party; she was a second year. there's no way she was so drunk that she didn't realize she was headed to the downtown mall. also, there's tons of people on the mall. why didn't she sit with them until one of her friends picked her up?
