I checked websleuths.com and posters came up with the same observation that I did. That is, that Hannah is walking with a mystery man and not her shadow and that he looks a lot like the guy walking with a group of people in the earlier surveillance video. They call him "dread man".

Watch this video at the 07:00-10:00 mark, it looks like Hannah is walking with someone with long hair and white clothes.

Does NOT look like a reflection to me.

Having grown up in the area, I can tell you that although the downtown mall is a fun place to hang out and dine during the evening, there are also plenty of scumbags who loiter there. I'd never want my child, male or female, walking around there late at night!

How did she get from 14th Street to the Downtown Mall? That is pretty far. Was this her first year at UVA? It says she is 18 and graduated in 2013, which makes her young. But, she lived in an off grounds apartment and all 1st years live on-grounds.

She's 18 and in her 2nd year at UVA. So yes, very young. I have an 18 yr old at UVA and this sickens me. Another DD is at Georgetown where a boy just died of meningitis after just a few days of symptoms. I'm battling the desire to bring them both home. I won't, of course, but my heart is in actual pain.

She was a sophomore and lived in an off-campus apartment. The color stiils of her is from the apartment building.

Watch the video from Sal's Pizza. The same guy (dreads, baggy white shorts) walks right in front of the camera at :25, but makes a U-turn at :30 through :40 (going off camera for a few seconds). He is alone. It just looks like he's walking with that other group of guys, but he had just turned around, and begins walking in the same direction as Hannah.

I predict there is going to be an outcome shortly. "Dread man" is pretty distinctive looking, so someone will recognize him. I agree that he does not look like he was with the larger group in the first video. The witness does appear to initially follow behind them, so I'm wondering why he doesn't have more information on where they went.

What's weird is that there seemed to be many people out and about - if she was lost why didn't she stop one of the groups that were out? The bar also had people out at tables, it would have been a good place to hang out and call for a ride. It's so distressing. I feel so badly for her parents.

I don't understand why the media is not blasting a still photo of the guy all over the news. When he passes in the front, he is pretty close and you can see what her looks like. It's obvious he saw Hannah coming from the opposite direction, cut across the patio, and then followed and eventually approached her. He's the one. And why is WTOP saying he has a cleanly shaven head? Maybe that's a bandanna on his head?
