UVA student missing

People go missing every day. I don't mean to be rude, but why is one more missing white girl that much more dramatic?

here we go with the race discussion. Missing people always get media attention regardless of race - Relisha Rudd was constantly on the news.

Heartbreaking. A beautiful girl. I could imagine my 2yo dd looking like her when she grows up. Makes me cry to think about what her parents are going through.

She was an anomaly. The news pays a well-documented disproportionate amount of attention to missing white girls.

I guess what makes this instance sexy are the hints that a serial killer is loose. But no one has actually SAID that, right?

Charlottesville has an extremely high violent crime rate.

Maybe post facts only. No racial stuff. Post that somewhere else. The Harrington mom link says 13 girls, but no listing. Let's stick with facts. Who are the 13?

I do wonder if there is one person involved in several of those.

I also think (not to get race involved) but there have been 3-5 AA late teens-early 20's females kidnapped & missing in the last 2 years in the Richmond area. I'd be surprised if there wasn't one person involved in those.

Somebody make a list of central VA missing girls over last 5 years. Has to exist somewhere. Makes no difference if AA or white or Hispanic. We all know the cops are overworked. Can we put something together here that can't be ignored? Can dcum do something really worthwhile?

Of course race makes a difference in trying to solve these cases. You dimwit.

Perps have MOs. A serial killer who has targeted six white women is much less likely to be linked to the disappearance of a black one. That's basic stuff.

Below is an excerpt from a Richmond Times-Dispach online article:

"Graham is the third area woman to go missing this summer. Janet Renee Field, 49, of Palmyra, was reported missing July 3. Her vehicle was found 20 miles from her home at the Zion Crossroads park-and-ride lot. Less than two weeks later, Bonnie Santiago, 56, of Albemarle County, was reported missing after leaving her boyfriend’s home on Carter Mountain. Neither has been found.

Before this summer came a string of cases involving young women, starting with Harrington, 20, the Virginia Tech student who disappeared outside the John Paul Jones Arena during a Metallica concert in October 2009. Her remains were discovered on an Albemarle farm three months later. No suspects have been named in that case.

Two 19-year-olds — Orange County’s Samantha Ann Clarke in October 2010 and Charlottesville’s DaShad “Sage” Smith in November 2012 — since have vanished. No suspects have been charged in their disappearances. In the spring, a jury convicted Randy Allen Taylor in the killing of Alexis Murphy, 17, a Nelson County High School student who went missing in August 2013. She never has been found."

I am not a dimwit. All I'm saying is let's make a list of all the missing women in central Virginia. I'll write the op eds, I'll write the letters to the editors. let's try to do something that makes a difference. If we have a problem in central Virginia let's make some noise. And stop calling names on an anonymous blog.

And her family is from the area. When someone goes missing it is usually on local news with their is a local tie.

That is what I was thinking of. There has been at least 1 more AA this year and I thought 1 after Alexis Murphy.
