Why did you send me to search for images of a middle aged porn star?

It's the hairstyle for white women who have given up.

If anyone can figure out how to make it work for someone with a lot of extremely thick, wavy hair, I'm all ears.

I have this hair texture and the key is a ton of thinning (with thinning shears) and a stylist who knows how to shape a bob. Tanisha at Lorraine April in Old Town Alexandria worked wonders on my hair.

I think it totally depends on hair texture. Nice straight shiny hair looks beautiful and very current. I think it's the women with course or wavy/ frizzy hair who get the bob - going for the chic sophisticated look you can only get with straight shiny hair. It goes off the rails- frizzy and hair looks big. I know bc I have the wavy/ frizzy hair and have had a love/hate relationships with bobs for years. I finally grew it long and the waves are MUcH more manageable and i can control the frizz a lot easier

I am having a bob now and I love it.. In the past I had my hair long and it was a burden for me.. with a bob, you feel your head free and tidy.. The only disadvantage for me is that you have to go to the hairdresser's quite often to keep the length short.

Your link simply showed me that it's usually white women with thin, limp hair that benefit from the look of the bob cut. I totally agree.

Thin, fine hair does not look good long at all, the bob cut is a way to give it a fuller appearance and since it likely gets oily quickly since its so thin the shorter cut would make it easier to wash and dry daily.

Different styles look good on different women, some should rock the bob and others look good with long hair.

Exactly. I have coarse, wavy Irish red hair. I would look ree-dick-you-luss in a bob. Long is the only way for me.

I have stick straight hair and am 45. My face is shaped like Scarlett Johansson, but I don't look like her. What other hair styles would look good?

I love also.
I think bobs are okay on certain people. I like straight bangs though, I personally think short hair is only for people who are really confident in their faces/showing off their natural beauty.

My hair is very fine, but thankfully I've still got lots of it!
When I had longer hair the only thing that worked was setting lotion, hot rollers, and LOTS of hairspray, but even then it would drop by the end of the night, My only solution has been to cut my hair quite short (into a stacked bob like http://newaylook.com/best-stacked-bob/) and use the hot rollers for special occasions, but use a double barrel curler for every day (it works more like an oversized crimper so the wave lasts a lot longer and gives the appearance of loose finger waves).

+1. I am Asian with stick straight, shiny black hair. I love my bob and always wear red lipstick. Suits me

Certain Asian backgrounds can pull off this look, but not everyone.

They are different,my next will be stacked bob , I saw on newaylook gorgeous ideas
This. I had a bob in my 20's and got compliments all the time (looked kind of like Louise Brooks) but it was a lot of work to make it look good. Long hair is so much easier. I can let it air dry with no problem. With the bob, no way!

Me too
I love my, structured, geometric bob – one part Louise Brooks, one part Swinging Sixties – and what it represents historically. Because so much attention has been made on the cut, I don’t have to spend ages on styling, it just swishes into place. Anything goes style wise these days so I’m always surprised how many compliments I get from strangers on my bob – most people have more relaxed styles so it does stand out (nothing ‘office lady’ about it, Lana!). So credit due to my hair stylist for being so talented – the five point bob is one of the hardest styles to create in hairdressing.

Cheaper and better looking to just buy a helmet and put it on.

Not if they're done well. Look at Julie Andrews in the Sound of Music. Absolutely stunning.

Um, her hair is AWFUL in this movie. She just happens to be a classic beauty.

Because I have fine straight hair and look terrible with longer hair. I'd love to have long hair. Not in the cards. It looks so stringy and limo.
