| I actually think bobs are a cute hairstyle. Makes thin hair look thicker, keeps thick hair in check. What short hair does OP think is ok? |
| I think bobs make attractive women look good but makes unattractive women more unattractive. |
I'd love to know, too. Really really tired of looking like I'm from another era
|
Nice try. They are ugly on anyone. |
Are you talking about Kristen Bell or Dawn Olivieri? |
| Those short, stacked bobs look very outdated-flyover-hausfrau to me. There are more classic bobs that look better. |
| OP, I'm not sure you know the definition of classic. The bob is -- literally -- the very first short haircut. In the 1920's, when hair was first cut short, it was "bobbed." It's the definition of a short haircut. It is a classic short haircut. You can shit on it all you want, but yes, it is a classic look. Maybe you don't like it, but that doesn't make it any less classic. |
| I think this post is so dumb. There are, like, 3 styles out there. Pixies, bobs, and long hair. Pixies look good on .05% of the population, and long hair only looks good if you have nice, silky smooth hair. Everything else is pretty much a version of the bob. Unless you want us to all go out and get a mullet or The Rachel, what do you suggest? For the record, I have had the same boring "just past shoulder length" hair for a decade. |
Thank you! I was thinking something along these lines, but you put it much better. Hair can only do so much, given the way it typically grows and hangs down. |
ha ha, so true!! +2! |

People who post appearance and style criticisms should be forced to post their own picture.
The long-winded PP who agreed with the OP has a recognizable tone and never fails to make me roll my eyes. |

It looks great on thin Asian women because they have the hair for it, and the figure. It looks great on thin blond women with straight hair for the same reasons. Otherwise, it just looks blah. But, it doesn't look any more blah than the overgrown, split-ended, pony-tailed locks so many moms wear, and it looks infinitely better than really long hair on middle aged women.
Basically, DC is full of average figured women with boring hair, no makeup, and conservative clothes--the hair is just one part of it. |
| I have awful hair - thick and wavy underneath in the back, and fine and flat around the hairline. Every stylist I've ever had has emphasized that mine is not "wash and wear" hair. The only style that flatters my face and is easy to manage is a chin-length bob with razored layers. It's a pain to have to blow dry and flat iron constantly, but it's much more professional looking than a sloppy bun or scraggly ponytail, which is the look I see all too often in my office. I'm also of the opinion that unless you have thicker, naturally good-textured hair, you shouldn't be wearing it long anyway (no matter your age). |
+1 And all of you super bleached blondes out there trying desperately to pretend you are 20 years younger than you really are. |
