Then just announce it. Over half the kids will be absent because of no Metrobus service. And some of the teachers too. |
To me it seems obvious that the choice is between delay and closed. There is no way to open on-time without metrobus service on all routes. |
Right. There are no unknowns at this stage. Night will be cold. Roads will be icy. Many WMATA busses won't be running. If OPM or DCPS were going to make an announcement they would have done so. Plan for work / school. |
Yes, why can't they post that and a check back in at xx ![]() |
So why the delay in announcing? They had the info hours ago.... And nothing so far. DCPS just likes to makes the process as painful as possible?!? |
Ok, but the folks in the Obama thread said it will be a two hour delay. Not authoritative, but it's all we got. |
Read the Powell thread. DCPS is announcing that Obama giving speech at 11:30 p.m. Presumption is that DCPS will be on 2-hour delay. DCPS all but confirmed it w/ Jeff. |
Not sure about DCPS, but OPM usually makes an "Open" announcement when they offer Unscheduled Leave as an option, which they will definitely be doing, given the buses and school situation. Silence from OPM so far. Again, what new information do they need? No new developments to watch for overnight - the variables are known and we just need a decision.
I hope DCPS makes an "Open" announcement if they are indeed open. |
The cat is out the bag DCPS. Go ahead and announce your plans already. |
Gah. What are they waiting for??? |
Politics |
A delayed opening would make alot of sense. Do it, DCPS! |
How will a delayed opening help the people who take the buses that don't start running until noon? |
Good point. Buses are pretty much off tomorrow. Why does it matter if the commute is at 8 or at 10? |
Gives those people extra time to come up with a Plan B. people should be able to figure some other means of transport for this rare type of occasion. They should not force everyone else to stay home. Be resourceful! |
