school tomorrow?

I'd be really surprised if DCPS is closed tomorrow. Maybe a delay, but don't see any reason to be closed.

Telework!

Many people don't have this option. You can't really telework when you are a nurse in a hospital.

True, but if he/she was a nurse then the federal gov't being closed likely wouldn't help. It's not like they send the patients home.

Last minute care for children these ages is very expensive. I'm in tears trying to figure out how to deal with yet another shortened work week - was up most of the night last night getting today's work done, and looking like it may be the same for tomorrow. Have many other issues going on right now including a move, divorce, health problems with one kid. Sorry, just exhausted and venting. I don't expect sympathy, and know many of you are in the same boat.

And I'll give you sympathy and an e-hug.

Go into a room, cry your eyes out, then regroup and get back to trouble shooting your problems.

We ALL have them.

But they don't last forever.

I hope things get better, MUCH better, for you. This too shall pass --take care of your health, so you can take care of those around you. Hugs

I don't get it when parents blame schools for being opening on their working schedule. Prioritize plan your schedule as it relates to the weather, that's why it is called a forecast. This whining is ridiculous.

4 inches of snow. Storm done by 2pm. Can't see there being a snow day tomorrow. My money is on a punctual start.

I have an hair appointment hopefully school is open

If there is no school again, that means there's no school this week at all at our charter between student led conferences, prof development and snow days. Ugh!

Schools are closing left and right (in VA and MD)....only a matter of time in DC. BIG. SIGH.

With less than 4 inches doubtful DC closes. More likely school will open late - at 10:00.

This doesn't make it look good for school opening:

These are the only Metrobus lines that will be running tomorrow (according to WMATA):

District of Columbia: 32, 36, 52, 54, 70, 90, 92, A6/A8, S2, X2. That's a tiny fraction of bus lines.

I'm a teacher, and take the D2 and 42 to work. I have no car. And most of my kids take Metrobus too.

I think they'll call it soon... closed.

So will school run till July or will they cut part of the Spring break?

Many staff live outside of DC and their neighborhoods have not yet been plowed. How can schools open if staff cannot get in to work?

Hell, DC neighborhoods have not been plowed. I'm a teacher who lives on a hilly street in Glover Park. My neighborhood bus won't be running. I'm dreading thinking about going out there at 6:45 a.m. and walking five blocks to Wisconsin Avenue to wait in the freezing cold for one of the few bus lines that will be running.
