What do you think about letting 17 yr old hang out alone in his room with his girlfriend?

If you're speaking about your own experience with abortion you should qualify your statement. I had an abirtion as a teen in college and though I was sad about it, I was not and am not depressed about it.

Nope, personally haven't had an abortion. The people I know who have, have also subsequently battled emotional difficulties. Good that you managed to avoid those problems.

I, too, had an abortion in college, and I was fine. So were several of my friends.

How many of your friends told you about their abortions?

I do not know a single woman who has had an abortion who had depression as a result.

I know quite a few women who have not had abortions who have had depression.

There are, no doubt, women within both of these categories who have had abortions and depression but given the numbers, its really difficult to say the abortion caused the depression.

More importantly, this is a trope of the anti-abortion movement. But they have cooked the numbers and when objective people study it, they find no connection.

I have a big house so son can be downstairs in basement/family room with friends while I'm upstairs. No, I don't expect him to have sex while I'm home. Yes, he will probably find a way to have sex when I'm out as some days I'm gone 11 hours straight.

I think that we need to teach our children "yes means yes", not just "no means no". "No means no" is that absolutely barest minimum. Real consent is saying yes, not not saying no.

If only we can teach them that through our own example.
Few of us actually do.

I'm the bolded poster, and since in my circle of friends there's no judgment for doing whats best for one's life, or one's body, people feel free and not ashamed to say if they have had an abortion, or taken anti-depressants, or other issues some people might shame them for. So, I'd say that 90% of my friends, 100% of my cousins, and 100% of my sisters (I have 3) have told me about their abortions.

How large is your sample size? Do you know 2 or 3 single women who have had abortions? 1000? Your anecdotal evidence is less than useless.

How would we do this?

"Say what you mean,
mean what you say."

It starts at home, or not.....

Non-anecdotal evidence:

And, in case you want to argue that this only applies to sinful, morality-free Danes, here's more non-anecdotal evidence from the US:

Did you bother to read these articles. This is a direct quote from the first one:

The finding that the incidence rate of psychiatric contact was similar before and after a first-trimester abortion does not support the hypothesis that there is an increased risk of mental disorders after a first-trimester induced abortion.
