| Casa De Amor is awesome - I especially love the tower for the princess to live in. |
Or to make a last stand against your rivals in illicit business. (nsfw, obviously) |
| I've got news for people in this thread. All of the "old money" used to be "new money" at some point. All of the "centuries-old" houses used to be new construction at some point. The primary difference between first-generation rich and "old money" is that "old money" didn't actually do anything except inherit money someone else made doing who-knows-what. I can think of plenty of dynasties that were founded by people engaging in businesses much less honorable than gas station ownership. |
Ha,ha,ha. Wrong, McMansion person. |
People object to the entitlement attitude of said people. You know, the types that cut you off on the road, rush in front of you in stores, push your kid out of the way at the salad bar. They have big, ugly houses and have big, ugly and aggressive attitudes. |

Oh, yes, PP. Because judging from your language in this post we can just tell that you are the epitome of class. |
Yes, because you KNOW those are all the same people. Did you check their bank statements. Give me a break. I know a lot of rude, boorish, cads-some with fat bank accounts and some without. No correlation and you know it. Bitter much? |
| Honestly! Can we just re-name this the Sour Grapes Thread? |
Honestly. The envy on this thread is palpable. I wouldn't say no to any of those houses rather than my pokey, leaky. crumbling 1930s nightmare I now live in. But I'm not choosy obviously. |
I'm English and yes, it is used in England, in the same way that the N word is used in the US. It is very derogatory. I have heard it used here in the US - by Pakistanis - as a neutral term but I would NEVER use that word myself. It has much more negative connotations in England than in the US. |
+1. I should have kept reading... |

Funny. My friend lives in a close in suburb and the neighbors that own the big, new beautiful houses are FAR nicer and more sane than the ones who live in the 1950-ish ramblers. The latter are quite bitter and nasty, and it shows. They would be better off just admitting the inner suburbs are changing faster than they can keep up and move out, already. |

I'm crazy and live in a close-in rambler, but I'm nice. Blanket statements are stupid.

I'm Indian-american (born here, brought up here, 30 years) and I have NEVER heard "paki" being used in the US. And none of my south asian friends born and brought up here would take that term as being 'neutral' As everyone else has pointed out, in the UK, the term "Paki" is used as the N-word is used here. It is more definitely a racial slur. The person that used that term on this thread is severely mistaken and I'm guessing probably has lots of BNP and EDL friends in the UK. Kudos to the brits on here setting this person straight. |
