| McLean, right? |

| McMansions in Potomac |
| what kind of money? |
| Any of the zip codes bandied about here as THE neighborhood to live in. Where *don't* the new money families live? |
| Ooh, I know! I just saw the new state-of-the-art habitat for new money types. It's under construction, along Foxhall Road near the Field School. Anyone know what I'm talking about? The most ridiculous stone-veneered three-car-garaged nothing-but-lawn McMansions imaginable, right where you'd expect to see stately century-old homes with beautiful mature landscaping. It's the weirdest moment of cognitive dissonance. "Wait... did I take a wrong turn and end up in Reston??" |
| Potomac agreed. |
| Potomac is almost respectable, y'all. Ashburn, Leesburg, Darnestown. |
| 14:16 That neighborhood is called Philips Park. There are some very pretty houses there. |
Reston has some hardcore HOAs...you couldn't build that in Reston... |
| Definitely Mclean. You can tell by the big bad attitudes that they have. They think that money = class. Also a lot of tech Paki Palaces along the Dulles corridor. You'll see grandma in her sari walking the toddlers every day like a free live in nanny. |
| Got the 2 most talented redskin players in my neighborhood in Leesburg. |
Woa woa. What does a grandma helping out have anything to do with new or old money? Or class? In a lot of cultures, it's not even thought of as helping out. She's part of the family - raised her children, and now they choose to support her. And way to throw a racial slur in there too. Goodness. Not to mention, to my knowledge, there are many more Indian ppl with tech money than Pakistanis. Or maybe I don't know the 'correct' usage of that term. |
On plots of land that are way, way to small for them. This is an essential part of the definition McMansion. |
| Well, folks, looks like this thread has "jumped the shark" |
