When did his big growth spurt start? My son spurted from 12.5 to 13.5 and has grown barely an inch since. He’s currently 16.

My money is on 6’2” tops given your heights.

People really don’t think 6’5+ teen boys exist? Have you seen your school’s basketball or football teams? My kid goes to a high school with about 2,000 students. This year varsity bb has 4 kids 6’5+ and fb has 5 different kids 6’5+.

Of course people with tall sons are going to gravitate towards a thread about height. People follow that which they relate to and have interest in.

14% being 6 foot or taller - kinda surprises me. I’m a 5’8 woman and have a reasonable grasp of what 6 foot looks like….i think there are a lot of boys this age that hit 5’11 so they are close enough that 6 feet doesn’t seem unusual

Thanks for posting, my son is projected to be extremely tall so I'm already on the lookout for options for XLT and size 16+ shoes.

Sounds like an early developer, he is probably about done, especially considering parent heights. I have noticed a lot of boys going through puberty much earlier than what used to be the norm. My son was a later developer, but many of his friends grew earlier and were done by 14ish, at least in height.

If he has no facial hair there's no way he's about done with puberty or his growth spurt. A quick google search most boys stop growing between the ages of 16 and 18. I think it's likely he grows at least a few more inches.

Not really. Some guys don’t get much facial hair until their 20s (or ever) - they are long done with puberty. Hair growth is a very separate thing from bone growth. And yes, most boys stop growing around 16-18 so that is the average, meaning some will stop earlier and some will stop later. Many earlier developers are done around 14.

But none at all? I agree few teen boys can grow a full beard, but I think at least having a moustache starting is a pretty solid indicator puberty is happening. FWIW, my son is 14, predicted to be tall, but started his growth spurt later. He has grown 5 inches this year, his voice has changed and he has facial hair on his upper lip only. He's 5'8" and 125 lbs; his growth curve says he will likely end up at 6'1"-6'2" but he's definitely not an early grower. He has a friend who is 13 who is 6'1" and 215lbs...his voice started changing when he was 10 and his growth has always been off the charts.
