+10 - I thought the same thing. It seems everyone here hopes to have tall/very tall/extra tall kids.

Social media allows people to just state their preference for height. It's nothing new. Tall people have always been desired. Read about evolutionary biology.

My son is 6'6. He was 6'1 at 14.

Agree. Height and age at which growth stops is all over the place for boys.

My Dad, brother, nephews (all over 6 feet) continued to grow until age 21 - 22.

My DSs (6’3” and 6’5”) reached full height by age 14. Their Dad (5’8”) was the same.

You have a 6’5 son with a 5’8 dad? This sounds like a troll (unless you are like a 6’2 woman).

Nope. I am 5'11 and my son is 6'4. So PP is not necessarily a troll.

+1 Nothing new to see here.

+1, it’s amazing how many sons on DCUM are 6’5 even though I never see any in real life. Oh and remember these posters all also have a HHI of “7 figures” and the moms all look 15 years younger than their age.

I have 3 older teens/young adults- and among all of their friends/kids we are acquainted with- I think we’ve known maybe 2 or 3 boys that are 6’5”+? A lot more in the 6’2”ish range but honestly, that is because they tend to stand out.

You don't think it's because the people who have tall kids are the ones who can relate and therefore respond?

I don't have a kid that tall so I would have no need to chime in.

His shoes are size 13 and he really wants the feet to stop. Shoe choice/access drops off a cliff after size 13.

Does anyone know if it is typical for feet to stop growing before the rest of the person?

My husband has size 13 feet and has since I met him at 18, when he was 6’1. He topped out at just over 6’5”. Can’t help with the how tall question, our son is only 10, although he’s already 5’.

Maybe it depends on where you live? We are in PG and my son's middle school basketball team has 3 players who are 6'1" or more. One of the players on another team was 6'5" at 14.

Your son will def be taller than 6'1 OP. I don't care what people say, 6'0 at 14 is extremely tall. I am 6'0 and I am 52. I don't come across a lot of people taller than me and I am not even super tall.

My DS was early to puberty and had a huge growth spurt between 12-14, grew less than an inch in height after that, though he continued to fill out and start growing facial hair, etc. He is 22 and 5’11, about the same as he was freshman year of high school. I know because he really wanted that extra inch to get to 6 feet.

I would say if his voice is fairly deep he doesn’t have a whole lot of upward growth left, but of course there are exceptions.

Where do you people live and hang out?

Multiple men in my regular life social circle or taller than 6 feet. Many. Not a few.

I do think this forum is weirdly tall obsessed for boys.

Most people are notoriously bad abt estimating height. Many people are not honest about their own height. Very very few men outside a few distinct ethnic groups are above 6 feet and even among them most aren't 6' 5" . . . There simply isn't many. So you either live in a location with a disproportionately high sunset of extremely tall individuals or you are mistaken.

Yeah people don't understand just how tall and how rare that height is. Most people who think they know someone who is 6ft are probably on the 5 10 to 511 range. Those they think are 65 are likely more 62 to 63.
It's not a new thing though when I used to work in pediatrics so many mins were obsessed with their sons heights and most wrongly estimated how tall they were.

Get him into rowing. Height is a huge asset in rowing (crew).

Are doctors and coaches also notoriously bad at measuring because they all tell me my 15 year old is 6’6…which makes sense because he is clearly an inch taller than my husband who has been measured as 6’5 by his doctors.

But, whatever, they are probably just 5’8 and 5’7 like you’re saying.
