When do you leave the sinking ship

But isn’t that every election since modern times. DC has never supposed a Republican candidate that I can remember.

Don't be daft...our country has never been in this dore an internal situation since the Civil War.

Uh, the Vietnam wars protests absolutely worked. Except when they tormented returning soldiers who had been drafted.

OP, I understand, but now is the time to fight, not flee. Also, this is destabilizing the world, so I'm not sure we'd make out better elsewhere.

Without allies, without NATO, without morality on our side, good luck making a stand PP - this country is not ours it's our government who owns it. It hasn't been the people running it for decades. Anyone telling you different is lying or a fool. There is no actual democracy. Socialist state yes but democracy + capitalism is not ever ever ever ever going to be a democracy. The money will run the govt. 1000000% of the time - be logical not emotional.
Greenland is a such a sideshow. The characterization of an invasion is incorrect because there is no force there defending Greenland so no fight is possible and it’s already NATO territory. A deal will be signed where the US explores adding bases, Trump declares victory, does a little dance, and this will fade into the background where it belongs. The Europeans want this because they want keep the status quo of US troops in harms way in Europe in case the Russians show up.

Interesting, sounds plausible. Again, Trump walking into a bad deal and wasting taxpayer $$.

I used to teach adult ESL classes. My students had been lawyers, doctors, accountants, pharmacists, scientists, shop owners, etc. in their home countries. Here in the US they were working as janitors, taxi drivers, daycare and home health aids, maids - things that didn't require English fluency.

I'm sure that they never expected that they would need to flee their country. But they did.

By the time people with money are ready to leave a country, it is often too late for them to leave.

I think white men are being turned down by white women. They don't have good jobs, they feel bad about themselves, and US white women don't want to have s3x with them.

The white men see "others" getting extra help as a remedy for past injustices and just feel sad for themselves because they don't have good jobs and can't attract pretty women. That's it. That's the whole root cause.

If they felt they had access to good jobs and had economic security, they might still be racist, but they wouldbe much less radical about it, because they would have good jobs and could attract pretty girls.

Also, the entire county, ever since NCLB, has had piss poor civics education. None of the young adults now really know anything about history, civis or geography. And they honestly don't know why fascism is bad.

The best things we could do to tamp down the alt right would be to overtly state things that are true anyhow, but in a way that makes them feel special like:

"It shall be legal to say "Merry Christmas" in public schools!"

"People shall be free to pray to Jesus on all public buses!"

“No one will be fired or expelled for standing during the national anthem.”

“American history classes will continue to teach the Founding Fathers, including their achievements.”

“Students may feel free to say the Pledge of Allegiance without ridicule.”

“Rural communities matter and deserve investment, not mockery.”

“Learning a trade is just as honorable as going to college.”

“People are allowed to be proud of their country without being called extremists.”

“Traditional holidays will continue to be recognized on school calendars.”

“Public schools must teach basic civics, including how Congress works and what the Constitution says.”

Additionally - we need to get these men some girlfriends.

LOL PP, love the reverse psychology!

Though disagree wholeheartedly with your last line -- gross. They need to be desirable and that's 100% on them.

Sorry - part of it got cut off.

I mean, get these guys some dating makeovers; classes on etiquette and conversation; maybe a little empathy counseling. Maybe a dance class or two.

I SWEAR most of the alt-right are incels because they are socially awkward and didn't deal with rejection well at all.

This is still the case. I currently tutor ESL students 3x a week. Just a couple of examples:

Lawyer from Colombia
Banker from Ukraine
Doctor from Egypt
Economist from Afghanistan

All fled due to political situations.

Our best way of protesting was at the ballot box but they've taken that away with Citizens United. Now a bunch of oligarchs who don't give a shit about what Americans want or need are calling all the shot.

It's all about taking attention away from Epstein. Read the last two pages of Epstein thread.

WTAF????

How did you pass the citizenship test?

This country was founded by a revolutionary movement that was rooted in civil protest. There has been civil protest more or less continuously throughout our history and it has been the only reason for the advancements we have achieved.

Get thee a copy of Zinn’s People’s History of the USA. Get your head out of your rectum and stop lodging ridiculously false allegations about the American people.

There’s no evidence that anti-war protests during Vietnam had the slightest impact. Until very late, the majority of Americans supported involvement in Vietnam, and if anything the protests fueled the perception that American was lawless and out of control, which Nixon handily exploited. Vietnam became unpopular due to (1) lack of progress on the battlefield (ie.the “credibility gap”), and (2) war inflation and taxes.

This is why I have trouble taking leftists seriously. They constantly say they hate the US or want to leave. $h!t or get off the pot, guys. There are plenty of immigrants who'd love to take your place, and given that you want to let them all in, maybe clear some space and make room for them.
